SCOTUS Upholds Gay Marriage

Embarrassed to be associated with such an organization. The veneer of bullsh*t at the corporate church level is a sham. Pointless posturing that no one truly believes in. Does anti-gay talk ever filter down to the parish level? Has anyone experienced a homily that highlighted the evils of homosexuality? Did you stay for all of it?
Back in the old days  Catholic priests were like Baptist ministers are today. No matter what the sermon was about they somehow worked homosexuality into it and condemned all gay people and said they would all wind up in hell. It was truly amazing how hung up the church was about gays back then. Maybe it was prompted by guilt because of all the priests molesting kids while, back then, nobody did anything about it.

It's not "ISIS", those are little dildos and butt plugs on that black flag

Lucy Pawle
Spg, that was truly one of the funniest things to hit the news in a while. I bet it went over most people's heads!

Not sure how I implied that. Just said we are embarrassed by you....because you're so miserable.

I have a baptismal certificate with your name on it. If I have the wrong Nick L. Dimer, I do apologize. My record keeping is spotty. Lost a lot of files when I moved to my new condo.

Your almightyness, I suggest you stick to your day job of running the universe because you sure won't make it as a message board comedian!

So, if the court had ruled the other way, would gay people have to stop living together?

I do wish this had happened through our legislative process, but it's not like it has a direct impact on me. I'm not gay, and I don't plan on marrying a dude, so I'll worry about stuff that I have to deal with every day.

So in addition to being a member of the Joe Paterno cult, you're also a big homophobe. Cool.

Although the corporate hierarchy of the Catholic Church is against this, I personally don't care. This is nothing new to me. Can't tell you how many times I walked in on Peter and John playing hide the frankincense.

Yes.....you got me, I'm a Penn St. fan for family reasons, but, don't consider it being a cult. And, I'm not afraid of nor do I hate homosexuals.....just don't think they deserve the right or privilege of being married. The tail-gunners & strap-on folks can knock themselves out in their life style, but, they should never be considered wedded.

Walking around ny yesterday you couldn't help but run into gay pride day revelers. There was none of that in your face over the topness like in that picture. The most scantily clad people were actually hot girls so it was pretty great. In NYC the guys tend to be a little more subtle about it - imagine that picture is in cali where they're still bitter about the Prop 8 thing

It's the summer so it must have been only the poor gays and tourists. The real NYC gays were living it up out East.

So you are in favor of the government deciding your rights?

I walked around the West Village for about an hour yesterday and I saw my fair share of aggressively underdressed men, but mostly it was just a gay Santacon.

There were many hot, seemly straight girls around as well.

No.........Christian morals........

But they have no bearing on this decision. What did Jesus say about gay people anyway?
This is a flat out conservative decision. No other way to look at it. Go'v't has no right to decide people's rights on such a matter.

Jesus never mentioned gay people. That's why this is a social and not religious decision.

Procreation of the human race.........

Such a silly

No, it's not. Most religions do not even acknowledge Jesus as the Christians do. So he or they have really nothing to do with this. It's a social issue because religion does not own the rights to marriage. In fact, marriage itself has nothing to do with religion.

WOW! How about that! You're just so smart. I guess then we can all forget about God telling Adam & Eve to go forth and multiply. Btw, all Christian religions + Islam recognize Jesus. That's a majority of the religious population.

Read what I said more carefully. Islam does not recognize Jesus the way Christians do. Nor do the Jews. And yet they marry freely. So you can get married without Jesus.

It does not matter in this case what God said to Adam and eve. Atheists and agnostics marry freely with no mention of God. Marriage is a civil liberty, done often by sanctioned government officials under no denomination in a courthouse. No one is fighting for the right to be married in a Catholic church. Marriage is not the property of religion. It exists outside of religion for millions already.

"That's why this is a social and not religious decision." Since this is what I said in my post, I have no idea what you're ranting about, 5.0 Perhaps, it's you who should go back and re-read my post!

Wow, that's some straight up fairy tale belief. I didn't know any non-fundamentalist took the Old Testament seriously
