The Fight

You're going to spend $100 if you go out. I was traveling with the family so missed the fight. However, it appears to me that it was just like all the other Mayweather fights. Guy is amazing. He basically been hit a few times in nearly 20 years of boxing. Think how crazy that is considering the other guys are trying/training as well.

Most bars were charging a 30 dollar cover to watch the fight. Was out in NYC the bar I was at did not have it on. Not that I would have wasted my time watching it.

How many people on this board actually enjoy watching box or just watched because espn talked about it alot. To me it seems like most people I know who watched it were the ladder.

Gennady Golovkin is a small guy who's great to watch.

Who else. Manny is basically toast. Mayweather says he's one fight away from hnging it up (I think he'll fight 2 more though) - who else is there in boxing to step in -I just dont follow enough to know. Gdog? Dirty?

Word coming out this morning is that Pac had a pretty serious shoulder injury that he sustained while training a few weeks before the fight, it's going to require surgery and up to a year of rehab. Smart business decision to gut it out and get to the payday, if he postponed the fight it may never have happened and $350 million dollars disappears. But this brings up an interesting point- did the public have a right to know about it? From bettors who had money down to the casual fan shelling out $100, should it have been disclosed? The contract for the fight hadn't even been signed at the point when Pacquaio was injured.

Well to start, Deontay Wilder, the WBC Heavyweight Champ is an American. He's only fought two people really, but once he disposes of the bum he's going to fight next month, there will hopefully be a unification fight against the winner of Wladimir Klitschko-Tyson Fury. I'm hoping that Fury wins, because Wlad is prone to snoozefests, but I'm not sure he has a chance.

Foye - yes he is a power puncher and so is Lucas Mattysee who I really like. his only loss was to Danny Garcia at 140 because of a headbutt, changed the entire fight. Garcia wants to move up to 147 but im not sure how much success he will have at that weight.

id like to see Mayweather Thurman. thurman cant win but it would be a good challenge.

Is canelo still a star? he was terrified to go inside on Mayweather in their fight. so was Manny.

Andre Ward is a great boxer but has been hurt and in legal battles over contracts for the last two years.

Broner is incredibly boring to watch and just hasnt gotten to the level his talents warrant.

Kovalev at light heavyweight is a good fighter and exciting.

No idea. I hardly follow the sport. I pretty much bet it twice a year - when Mayweather fights. TMT by decision is about as easy as it gets.

Apparently, Manny P. answered "no" to a question about any injuries (specifically, shoulder, elbow, etc.) on the pre-fight medical questionnaire and signed it (or his rep) under punishment of perjury. Also, could be basis for a class action lawsuit by those who bought fight tix and/or PPV.

The easy defense would be that it was not an injury beforehand, just soreness. And he injured it in the fight to the point that he needs surgery.

sure, that would be easy, BUT his handlers and promoter Arum have already said the injury happened during training while he was sparring. He tried to get a pain shot on fight night, but paperwork problems prevented it.

Andre Ward will take over #1 p4p in about a year.

Wlad will murder Fury. Fury's chin sucks. Wilder and Anthony Joshua are the future of the heavyweight division. Mainly because Klitshcko will be gone in a few yrs.

The future of the sport are also these guys:

Vasyl Lomachenko, Demetrius Andrade, Terrance Crawford, Kell Brook, Keith Thurman, Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, Artur Beterbiev.

Floyd will retire unbeaten. He is too calculated. It takes a bigger man with speed to beat him. He doesn't face those types. Oscar. Canelo. Slow as shit. The guys with the best chance to beat him in their primes were Paul Williams and Sergio Martinez. He conveniently avoided both. Today the 2 guys with best chance to beat him are 154 lb guys like Erislandy Lara and Demetrius Andrade. He won't face a guy with length and speed tho. Among guys he make actually face with best chance of giving him a guy fight - Amir Khan and Terrence Crawford. Both are fast and rangy. We will probably get Danny Garcia or Adrien Broner. 2 guys with no shot of winning whatsoever.

Seems like a very difficult thing to prove. He could say it went from merely irritated the night before to blown out after the fight.

He didn't disclose the injury 2 wks prior. That's why it wasn't allowed on fight night. He, Roach and sparring partners claim he got hurt 3 wks out - but it wasn't documented on the 2 wk out medical form in which they disclose injuries and ask for shot clearance on fight night.

id like to see Cotto get another crack at Floyd. Garcia cant beat him, if he fights Broner it may go down as the first fight where no punches are thrown by either fighter.

Broner is a bum.

Cotto and Floyd would have to fight at 154 which i cant see happening.

I cant believe paluie m is fighting again. O'Connor must be a bum. Paulie M almost got killed by Shawn Porter a year ago.

May 29

At New York (Spike TV): Amir Khan vs. Chris Algieri, 12 rounds, welterweights; Paulie Malignaggi vs. Danny O'Connor, 10 rounds, welterweights

did anyone see the Jennings Klitschko fight two weeks ago? Jennings took a right hand square in the face in the 12th and didnt drop. it was the hardest right cross Klitschko could throw. i was shocked at how strong his chin held up.

I know, bro. But i don't see how they can prove that, in hindsight, he was so injured before the fight that it materially affected his performance.

Agreed. Broner is garbage. Al Haymon will only be able to protect him for so long.
