Yankees are in the playoffs.

Shitty Yankees team who probably won't win the play in game. I think it shouldn't count as a playoff game.

Yankees sporting "Postseason" hats? Perfect Season?

I am sorry, but there is just one sports franchise you can NOT rip on and it is the New York Yankees. No other team in any sport comes close to what they have accomplished and no other team has had the amount of historic players that have been on their teams.

If you start bitching about the payroll, step into my office, because you are F'ing fired. Yankees shouldn't have made the playoffs this year, they shouldn't have at all. The fact they did just shows they are winners. SUCK IT.

If they played in the NL they'd be heading to the golf course with that $200 million payroll. You can always make fun of the Yankees. I remember when all they cared about was championships. ND nailed it, now they have been reduced to celebrating wild card berths. Someone post those goalposts being moved.

You shouldn't be sorry. This post is exactly why you rip on the Yankees.

Exactly my point, a shitty Yankees team.

So why not just entitle the thread, "Shitty Yankee team"? Discuss.

Proud to say Yanks made playoffs with a youth movement.

They could make some noise postseason if Girardi rests everybody

People act like f*cking Lou Gherig makes a difference today. The only way that the past (Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle, Reggie, Maas, Jeter, Rivera) matters today is that it has given them a healthy war chest to acquire players with.

In the yanks defense, the NL Central is so strong that you could argue that pretty much any team would be overwhelmed in the NL.

Speaking of which, there really hasn't been that much talk about having the three best records in baseball all in the same divison. Could you imaigne if the AL East had the three best records in baseball? ESPN would be splashing keyboards 24/7

How is it cringe worthy? You have assbags who are Mets and Phillies fans trying to have a circle jerk because a down Yankees team still makes the postseason. What is cringe worthy is having to deal with people whose teams have sucked for literally DECADES and they have a good year and all of the sudden they are on par with the Yankees. Nobody is on par with the Yankees. I am also an Islanders and Jets fan, I know what it is like to cheer for shitty teams, but even when they do make the playoffs, like the Islanders did last year, I am not going to start calling out The Chicago Blackhawks or the New England Patriots like they are a joke. That is laughable.

I know every year things can change in sports, but as a franchise, there is just no other team that can compete with the success of the New York Yankees. A few good years for a sports team is not going to put you on the same level as a team that has won 27 World Series.

I don't care what people say. A franchise is a franchise because of it's history, if it wasn't, why would we bother hanging banners?

Yeah, just remember what happened last time both your assbag teams made the World Series.

It is like comparing a Pinto to a Porsche.

Drops mic.

Nostalgia sells, pal. And the Yankees have a lot of sheep to sell it to. In the real world, they're just a few notches better than the Astros, who just wrapped up a stretch of 100 loss seasons with a minor league roster.

For the record, a bitter Nats fan has no place in this discussion. ND, the pet calendar. I still can't figure out the Werth one....It makes me uncomfortable.

Make that Double-cringe worthy. If the Red Sox wore a hat that said "Postseason", you're telling me you wouldn't be sitting here saying that's ridiculous. All you're talking about is the history of the Yanks winning and now they're wearing a hat celebrating a one game playoff.

I'm happy the Yanks are in the playoffs, I live in NYC and enjoy when the local teams make the postseason. Let's get something straight though, Big George would have lit that hat on fire.

I think Yanks actually win this game. They've got some breathing room and can setup their rotation and bullpen. Angels and Astros are battling down to the wire and might have to use their best guys to even get to this playoff game.

I am not talking about this year. I don't think the Yankees have a very strong team this year, and don't expect much from them in the postseason. What I am impressed with is the fact that they even made the postseason though.

I will never understand people who use the argument ND is using right now, that a team's history means nothing. So am I supposed to put the Golden State Warriors on the same level as the Boston Celtics because Golden State won it last year? I am sorry, but that is just ridiculous to me and I will never agree with this type of thinking.

So, you're a Celtics fan, watching the Warriors clean your team's clock this year. What's the point of yelling about a bunch of titles that were won before you could tie your shoes? Your Celtics team sucks now and for the forseeable future.

People that yell about their teams' retired/dead players' successes are probably also eager to talk about other sh*t that doesn't matter. Like their high school football stories and the time they corrected a friend's bookie.

I am not a Celtics fan. I watch about 1 NBA game every 6 years. It was just my point that a team having ONE good year does not put them on the same level as a team that has won numerous championships, especially teams that have had dynasty teams that win 3 or 4 in a row.

And? You don't get to keep a trophy in your case for a title a team you root for won. It's awesome to experience and you get to keep those memories, that's it. You don't get extra points because a bunch of guys you don't know won a contest in which you had no bearing on the outcome. You have the moment, the experience and then life moves on. This seems lost on many.

I know, 2008 WFC, has no bearing on anything anymore.

Look.....every year is a different season......and teams are different.........so, this year the Yanks make the play in game......If there are any complaints, it should be about the playoff structure.....too many teams can make the playoffs......If you need playoffs, cut them to two divisions in each league......Have an East & West in both the American and National leagues. East plays West, and the winners go to the world series....

I like how there are 7 pages of the most recent MLB thread, and VUWildCat2003 has barely chimed in during that thread.

However, the yanks have a banner worthy moment of a wild card berth and he spouts off to all the fans of other teams. I love it.
