I know this sport is a bit too barbaric for some of you softies with your pink polos and golf hats - but watch the 2 main events on this card and you'll gain a better appreciation for how ridiculous these athletes are. Insane fights.

There's no better schtick on here than gdog's meathead, low IQ 4for4 routine. The fact that he posts this shit in middle of night to make it look like he's half drunk really sells it.

UFC is garbage.

I could say golf is boring garbage but that would be short-sighted. I enjoy everything from people beating the f*ck out of each other to the slow burn of golf and tennis.

I draw the line at soccer. Just can't get into it. I won't call it garbage tho. Just because I don't like something doesn't make it garbage. Except auto racing. Absolutely garbage and stupid.

it is garbage because it plays off the base instincts of people - using that to make a buck. it is cock-fighting where the cocks are human. low class schmucks eat it up because they are frustrated with their lot in life and need to relieve their frustrations by watching humans inflict violence on other humans. it holds us back as a society if we promote that kind of activity as "sport". if people are to evolve and advance over the centuries then this type of activity should lose popularity as time progresses.

Mixed martial arts has been around for decades.

Just because you're an elitist doesn't mean everyone needs to invest exclusively in country club endeavors. Broaden your mind and stop pigeon-holing others. The fact that you are drawing parallels to "lots in life" in regards to sports viewing is mindbogglingly absurd. Don't like it, don't watch it. Next time you run into one of those millionaire Hollywood celebs you constantly see ringside at boxing/UFC events tell them you wanna have a personal convo with them about their "lot in life." Let me know how that goes.

i am not an elitist - it is simply fact that UFC is boorish.
i don't give a crap about millionaire hollywood celebs - what do they know about life? less than an average joe like me.
i already wasted more time on ufc than i needed to just be sharing a couple of posts in this conversation.
i will leave the stupid to the stupid.

Is it more or less boorish than boxing?
How about the football?

Will you ever stop? Or, should we just expect you to thrust your contrarian views into every thread? I suspect that you barely care about this sport, but simply can't let another opportunity pass by without injecting your typical trolling comments in hopes to find another argument.

Not trolling. I actually enjoy mma. like most sports, people who hate it are just not familiar with it. I was in the same camp too. It's not the same "cage fighting" that it used to be. It's evolved into a pretty well rounded blend of wrestling, boxing and jiu jitsu. We are starting to see the first generation of fighters coming up who began training in MMA rather than just as a specialist in one discipline.

It's hard for a 4for4er to imagine people with different opinions, though. Thanks for weighing in on something that you know nothing about. You're probably just echo-ing an opinion that you heard some Neanderthal grunt out at a mummer's party.

Actually, I never offered up an opinion on the sport. So, what the eff are you talking about?

I offered up an opinion on you having to be in the middle of every thread. You go around routinely taking shots at other posters all of the time, yet are oblivious to your own tired behavior.

I thought pro football had some low life trashy fans, but then I happened to be in a bar showing a UFC event. Lowest of the low.

MMA is barbaric. Like the 2015 version of gladiator battles, with the same quality of fans.

I went to one at the Pru two years ago. Couldnt even sit through it. Had to spend the whole night getting drunk at the club bar.

Soccer is probably the most popular sport in the world. Have you taken a look at their fan's behavior at events around the world?

Just because a lot of sh*theads watch soccer doesn't mean everyone who watches it is a sh*thead. Plenty of soccer fans on this board. Are you a "low class loser" because people are constantly getting arrested and even dying at soccer events around the world?

That's relative. There were 147 soccer matches being played today and there aren't any big tournaments going on nor are any of the top European leagues playing.

Yes there are incidents, and yes plenty of fans are also boorish, but UFC is a special niche where the fanbase is concentrated and not ecclectic.

Went to the fights. Unreal atmosphere with all of the Irish in town. After the fights was just as entertaining with the thousands of Irish going ballistic with their chants/songs in the MGM. Casino security had no idea what to do.

Lawler-MacDonald the best fight I've ever witnessed and I've been a fan since UFC 1.

The cockfighting comments are so stupid and dated. Always see them from ignorant dopes. So 1998. Yea these guys enter the ring under their own accord and make a good living. McGregor made 7 figures last night. Great comparison to cock-fighting.

Long day traveling; taking my low class schmuck ass to bed.

Huge screens everywhere.

Four above the ring. Four in the upper corners.

Even though I had pretty good seats, I watched most of the fights on the big screens as it is pretty tough sport to watch live. Cameramen often in the way. Very difficult to understand whats going on when they are on the ground. Even when they are standing I found myself watxhing on the big screens instead; was easier to tell how hard the shots were. Next time I will buy a cheap seat in the nose bleeds and watch on the big screen.

Been to no shortage of big sporting events --- NCAA Championship Game... World Series... Super Bowl... that was the craziest environment I can remember viewing live. When McGregor KO'd Mendes, the place erupted.

Here is a sample of the Irish fans after the fight. They did all this after the weigh-ins too. Passionate )and drunk) folk.

Only annoying part was watching the Irish Americans trying too hard to fit in

My thoughts on the sport: the world needs ditch diggers too. Sure it was a cool environment at the fight/post fight. Not my cup of tea but to each their own.

UFC tickets are very expensive. Nosebleeds were in $300 range. The gate was $7M or so. How did I and the other 16K+ lower class schmucks afford it?

fair point. That being said, having been to many NFL games and a few UFC events, the NFL games have a much more stereotypical low class element. Everyone that surrounded me the other night didn't come close to fitting the NASCAR profile I always see mentioned. Not even close. Nerdy dorks behind me and to the left. Young professional d-bag types in front and to the right.
