Eric - Live Chat Question

Sorry for a stupid thread - I tried to figure out "conversations" but couldn't.

Is there a cost associated with opening up that live chat that runs during 'nova games and is there a requirement that it's monitored?

I think it'd be cool to have a chat open during the first and second round games - an all day running live chat. Don't know if others would be interested.

Two articles of interest

Two articles of interest in today's NYTimes. The first is how Xavier has distributed via email a newsletter that discloses all their plays and game day routines. It started under Thad Matta with a distribution to Ohio based coaches. It has expanded over the years as Mack advocates "transparency". He probably thinks the publicity outweighs and info the opposition might pick up.

The second is on Whitehead from Seton Hall as he comes across more likable than many including myself have thought of him. The article is on his close relationship with his mother and how she protected him.

Odds to Make the Sweet 16

-240 to make the Sweet 16 at betonline.ag. No is +190. Would represent about a 68% chance of moving onto the second weekend.

Real promising news. I don't agree with the odds, but I hope they are correct...

Odds to make the Elite 8: Yes +115, No -145. Would represent about 46.5% chance of making E8.

Some other Nova related props..

More wins:

VU +135 or Mich St -165
VU -105 or Oklahoma -125
VU -165 or X +135

OT for Ace -- Apologies for the Interruption (All Others Ignore)

Adam, I do not think I have your e-mail address so posting here.

I know you are a big Serie A fan. I cannot recall with certainty, but I thought it was Juventus. Could be wrong.

I am marrying a woman from Munich and we are all (kids included) very much into FC Bayern Munchen now. Pretty big game tomorrow.

Drop me a line at gene.stroz@gmail.com to catch up. Or maybe I will run into you Friday.

Seton Hall vs Villanova: Big East Championship Ratings

I was curious how the move from smaller cable sports network to Network TV would work out for the Big East

"The Big East championship was the lowest rated college hoops telecast of the weekend on broadcast — behind even the Mountain West and Atlantic-10 title games on CBS (1.1 for each). Head-to-head, it trailed both the Mountain West game and the Big 12 championship on ESPN (1.5)."

Our game got a 1.0 rating, while over on the much less available basic cable ESPN, UNC/UVA Chmp = 1.8

Then again, being on FOX may have had us come close to breaking the 1 million viewers mark ~ a 'step' in the right direction...but still being beat by mid major conferences and basic cable ESPN games is'nt something to be totally happy about. Not quite a 'marquee' basketball league yet (in terms of eye balls/ratings/fan base/etc)

WINING POST:
Since I was born, my father Nova ‘78, raised me on Villanova. He always said to my siblings and I, "You can go wherever you want, but the check's going to Villanova." Gladly all three of us attend Villanova now. It wasn't just Villanova, Villanova basketball was the most important thing and since I was born I've only missed a couple of home games. My father was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and at the first tournament game in 2010, the team huddled up and prayed for my dad and ended up winning the game. He passed away the next day and Villanova ended up losing the day after. Father Rob gave my family the pin from the tournament and even gave my dad his last rites. My dad bled blue, from being at the 1985 game, to going to every home game until he died. One of the greatest gifts my dad gave me was a love for Villanova basketball and I can think of no better way to honor him and celebrate his life than to watch the 'cats make it out of the weekend on the 6th anniversary of his death (3/19). Go ‘Cats.
