Nova's Finest

This story has it all. "Fake" career, $5.2 million house in the hamptons owned by parents, late-model Range Rover, idiot drunk man. It was funny when college kids did this stuff, now not so much.

I got sent this link by some friends, and had a good laugh.

For the CoPers on the board, a Range Rover is an overpriced luxury SUV that looks like a telephone booth and is generally of poor quality, which is mainly used as a status symbol, the Hamptons are a group of expensive beach communities on long island, and Goldman Sachs is an investment bank, kind of like your local check cashing place, but bigger.

2016 PSA...Call 911

Enjoyed this board for years but never post, this message may help somebody. Had chest pain on New Years, my wife convinced me to dvr Nova game and get it checked. Stat MD did EKG but said no heart issue. Got home and was packing cooler for New Years party and pain got worse but I hesitated calling 911. Of course I had a heart attack. Was sure age 46 was my expiration date during ambulance ride to hospital.

Just got home today, no doubt a life changing event. During stay in ICU, heard too many stories of guys that hesitated calling 911 because they thought it would pass. Simple take away, call 911 for chest pain. Can be the difference between an uncomfortable stay at hospital vs leaving wife and kids without a Father (I got lucky).

Lenny Cooke Documentary

I was about to hit the sack on Sat night and the Lenny Cooke documentary came on, so of course I stayed up til 3am watching it.

People always label him as a "cautionary tale" but I'm unclear as to what the cautionary tale really was with that kid. It seems like despite his talent, he was a born loser destined for failure no matter what he did. The piece does a poor job of explaining why he was staying with that white woman in Old Tappan when his real family was down in VA....and why he was suddenly ruled ineligible to play his Sr year. Didn't someone miscalculate somewhere along the way? It's not like his 19th birthday just came out of nowhere.

I don't understand where he fell apart. If the geeks at ABCD had him as #3 behind LeBron and Melo, why didn't he just go play somewhere in Europe for a year or at some Juco? Bryce Harper did it, Brandon Jennings did it.

The NBA will take a risk on ANYONE. Seems like there was something way more going on there.

Few thoughts

1). Many have already said this, but the Virginia and Oklahoma games were huge for us. The improvement in the offense over the past month has been tremendous.

2). I expect Brunson to continue to improve as we move through the Big East and Booth to continue to improve his handle. If you get those two slashing in addition to Hart, the inside/out looks are going to increase. These are the threes we should be taking. I think Arch is the main beneficiary.

3). Saw some comments talking about Bridges as a big guy, I see him more as a big guard like Hart. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the Davis center watching those two get after each other.

4). It's fun to have a tough big east schedule again. Not many cupcakes this year, should help come March.

5). Loved the full day of big east yesterday on fox. Hope that becomes an annual tradition, channel didn't change all day in our house

Happy New Year all

OT: CFB Playoff ratings

The ratings for the New Year's Eve national semi-finals were embarrassing. Dropped by more than a third vs. last year from a plus 15 rating to a lower than 10 rating. CFB thought they were so big and popular that people would change their New Year's Eve plans and traditions to watch the games instead. The whole idea of playing the most important games of the year in the midst of the bowl game schedule does not make sense anyway. The games should have been played on Saturday January 2nd.
