Paschall Thoughts

After reading up on him and watching some you tube clips I really like this pick up. Next year we will be a solid team, the following year we lose to experience 3 and a 4 year starter. Bringing in a guy who has played at this level is very important. He has had success and it seems because of his injuries he has not hit his ceiling. Saying that what I like most about him is that he had some length and height to the guard position. Also another guy who can guard multiple positions that fits into our switching defense.

I really like how the 2016/2017 team is shaping up. You are going to have one of our best backcourts with Brunson and Booth and Donte off the bench, you get wing players like Paschall, Hart, Jenkins and Bridges, all of which are capable shooters and bring different dimensions to the game (shooting, rebounding, defense, ability to create). That is going to be tough to guard. On top of that you will have Spellman another big who can post and spread the floor, hopefully an experienced Reynolds can give minutes as well. Would like to get another post guy and I think Stevens would be a good fit, spreads the floor, can drive and gives that extra effort.

We are shaping up for a long run of very good teams. I know its disappointing that we have not had the success in the tourney but with the caliber of players we have coming and are recruiting we will break through, its just a matter of time. Good times to be a Wildcat fan.

Banquet Thread

Quite a crowd at the banquet tonight - seemed like 700-800 people at the Pavilion to celebrate Villanova basketball and a great season.

The Most Outstanding Player Award went to Darrun Hilliard
Attitude Award went to Daniel Ochefu
Villanova Basketball Award (the highest honor) went to JVP.

Plenty of former players were there for the festivities.
The banquet came on the heels of a memorial service for Jack Kraft. His daughters were there and had some wonderful words to say about their father and Villanova.

The videos segments were great. Ryan Fannon gets a solid C+ for his MC work ;)
There were plenty of 'Nova Nation VUSports folks in attendance - brill, ace, Beefer, UB57, Laurie, mojo, shananigans, PeterN, The Brothers Fig, worm, Z_Man, MANY more ...

I thought JVP and Hilliard did real good jobs with their Senior / Farewell speeches. They both nearly lost it in the middle ... the way they talk about Jay and the staff is really special.

I will let others provide more of the details and their thoughts.

I may have some quotes from the Senior's speeches some time tomorrow.

2 new names via SBNation

Don't see either of these guys on the depth chart, and neither seem to be ranked at this point, but according to SBNation's Harrison Malkin, we're interested in Cyril Langevine and Dylan Painter.

Syracuse & Villanova have recently expressed interest in 2016 New Jersey Playaz F @CyrilLangevine. He has offers from Robert Morris & FDU.

2016 F Dylan Painter (@dpaint4234) tells @becb_sbn that he will visit Villanova in May.

Langevine appeared to be 6'5" as a freshman (when he shattered a backboard) and now he's 6'8".

Painter is a 6'10" power forward from Hershey. Don't know anything else about him.

Paschall

The nice thing about Eric's fit at Nova is that we don't need him to be our 1 or 2 option on offense. His first year, he could fit in with Brunson/Booth/Hart/Spellman and be a fifth option on offense or sixth man with Jenkins starting. He'll be able to ease into his first year with the Cats. Frankly, he'll be a fourth option his junior year with Brunson/Booth/Spellman on the floor with him.

Good fit for all parties.

Eric Paschall

Eric Paschall just "followed" my business account on Twitter which is a known PRO Villanova Twitter account which often posts Villanova news etc. The last time that happened was with Omari Spellman who followed my account and then committed to Nova within 10 days after he followed us. Just saying

Stevens/Paschall Updates

There were a couple posts in the Stevens and Paschall threads asking for updates on the visits and any news concerning their recruitments.

Any updates on the Stevens visit, or either recruitment, to pass along? There were some intimating that Stevens was ready to commit over the weekend. Doesn't look like that has happened, but maybe there is more to the story.

By no means to I mean to interrupt the discussions in the other threads, BTW. I think further discussion and debate about the merits of their games should continue in those threads. I'm just re-posting this here so that the requests for updates in those threads don't get lost in translation. Thanks.

Lamar Stevens

Watched his mixtape from EYBL Hampton. Some thoughts:

A. Must be a tough eval for our staff, because...

B. He is productive - stuffs the stat sheet - against good competition... That is huge.

C. He looks undersized for a 4 and underskilled for a 3

D. Looks like an average athlete for a high major - at best

E. Seems to play below the rim for a 6'6 guy

F. Didn't show a perimeter game or a handle for a 3 man. Seems undersized and underathletic for a high major 4

Obviously highly productive for a high school "big" - I usually think that will translate somehow to the college game. Not sure it will with Lamar.

Thoughts?

Car Washing

Why does nobody wash their cars, ever? It's winter, and there is salt everywhere. People's cars are covered in salt that will literally ruin them. All you need to do is spray it with a hose and wash it off.

Even when the weather is nice, maybe 1/10 cars you see on the road is actually taken care of. And the weird thing is, people with nice cars don't seem to do any better with this than people with crummy cars. I see tons of high end luxury cars (always in black, the toughest color to take care of) that aren't that old but look like they've been through Iraq. And when people do get their cars washed, they invariably end up with swirl marks and all this nonsense that makes the paint look even worse, and my personal favorite, that garbage tire shine that makes your tires turn brown after a few uses.

How hard is it to get your car detailed 1-2 times a year? It makes all the difference in the world.
