new message boards

most likely some time this week VUSports will be migrated to the new versions of the Rivals message boards.

Here is a cut and paste of a post from one of the national guys on the migration:

Hey everyone,

Just a quick head's up that High School Sports Central and for you National Pastime fans - College Baseball Clubhouse.

Once the migration is complete (approximately 4 to 5 hours with no major complications), the new Rivals.com team will monitor the new boards for the next 72 hours, and if all goes well, we intend on launching the new Message Boards across every site in the network (including your home sites) this coming Monday night/Tuesday early am.

Here are some of the new Features & Benefits for the new Rivals.com Message Boards:

1. They are a responsive design[/B]; meaning, they were designed for desktop, tablets and mobile - all in one design and all at the same URL. No need to go to a different address to get the proper version for your device

2. They have a modern, secure and actively maintained framework built for speed & stability

3. There will be no[/B] limit on Thread History, so you can reference old topics or replies at any time

4. There is Private Messaging, Social Profiles and Rich(er) Content - embeddable video, embeddable Tweets, etc

5. You now can set up alerts[/B] and follow users [/B]so you don't miss replies to topics you're participating in or miss great posts from your favorite users. In yourNews Feed[/B] you'll be able to see all of the topics, users, and content that you wish to follow.

6. Dynamic quoting system [/B]so what you select within a thread can be quoted without copying and pasting any code. You select what you want to quote and click Reply over that selection, and it will be put automatically in your reply. You can quote multiple posts[/B] and automatic quoting[/B] is set up so that you can always follow the conversation with a user forgetting to quote.

7. Improved navigation[/B] and search[/B]: quickly jump to the first unread post in a thread or to the top and bottom of each thread. Advanced search features include by keyword, date or thread title.

Once we launch Thursday morning, you will notice a pinned post titled: "Help! How Do I ... for the New Rivals.com Message Boards." Click on that link and you will have numerous threads walking you through everything you need to help make your Message Board experience a truly fun and dynamic one.

Preseason NIT

According to the posted link, our competition in the Preseason NIT will include Arkansas, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Akron. Not spectacular, but we expected that. I believe Arkansas just lost their top two players to the draft, though. Stanford is probably the next best team here.

NIT

Jake Nevin

Is it true he is buried in an unmarked grave? Does anyone know the backstory on this? If he is indeed buried in an unmarked grave, and the family or Jake himself did not specifically request he be buried this way, something must be done to rectify the situation.

April MLS talk

The orlando city vs dc game was 48 hr delay, so just catching up.

What an amazing mls game. That was very enjoyable. DC is a good team, but I'm all about orlando. I watched a bunch of NYCFC games early, but wasn't catching the team flow. Kaka is that WOW player that henry was, and breck Shea manning the left side on defense and midfield is pretty good. No idea what happened to him in the premiere league, but I have liked what I have seen.

Tim Howard back to mls??? Buzzzzz.......

The Cone of Silence is Upon Us

The cone of silence is upon us. There have been over 200 loyal Nova fans online most of the day today. The last post on the board has been 3 hours ago. Everybody is watching and waiting to see a post from an insider. The burning questions out there are:

1. Did Jay offer Lamar Stevens yesterday?
2. If so did Lamar Stevens commit to Nova?
3. Did Eric Paschall pick a school to transfer to? Nova, Florida, Providence or Fordham?

I am just bored on this lazy Sunday afternoon. The Phillies are losing again. I don't feel like doing yard work that is what teenagers are for. I am going to head out for dinner in a bit with the wife and hope to come back in a few hours to check this board and hope to see some great recruiting news.

Thanks,...RobN
