had enough of the nc state rebounding advantage crap !!

so these are the guys who beat us...btw none of these guys ave.20 mins. a game...

abu - averages 4.5 rebounds a game,he is a inexpierenced freshman as is 6' 8 230 lbs... not exactly moses malone...

washington - 4.3 rebounds a game,,he is a sophmore and is 6' 9'' 230 lbs.

anya - a woping 4.4 rebounds per game,,and his 6' 9'' 300 frame should of been to our advantage ( think josh smith )

freeman - leads at 5.5 rebounds per game...he is just a sophmore...and last time i checked all four of these guys can't
be on the floor at the same time,,,

WE LOST BECAUSE ARE GUARDS GOT EXPOSED TO NC STATES MEDICORE GUARDS,,,same story over and over
again nc state guard blows by our guards,,our bigs come out to help,,leaving our interior vunerable...

and just for the record if anyone would like to bring up the fact that nc state is better overall in rebounding margin than us...
the only reason is because nova shots a hell of a lot better from the field than nc state...since villanova shoots a ton of
3 point shots,,nova would have more rebounds on misses...

Criticism is OK as is disappointment.

I've read some spot on posts. The lack of dribble drive guards really hurt. ( Lowry, Aray and Foye could all attack basket as could Scotty and Fish ) Our recent struggle are strongly linked to our inability to create off dribble. In addition we have become way to reliant on 3's , I realize this goes hand in hand with not being able to dribble drive. Our offense is really ball rotation around perimeter and we move ball well but it's never to create a weak side drive , just jump shots. When shots aren't falling the free throw line is your friend., just ask JVP. Getting to the line is accomplished by drives , deft post moves like JVP and transition baskets ( something we decided to stop doing mid January and did none of last night) This needs to change. In addition Eric's summation that if Danny O rips rim down to start 2 nd 1/2 we are off to races. He didn't and continued to look timid , scared and uncomfortable.more concerning was our lack of D intensity and some non senses of urgency. Lastly we have to dump big 5 and quick. With our league not presenting enough competition we can't waste games on st Joe's. Honestly our tough non conf games were cuse and a bad Illinois team , this must change. There is only so many times you continue banging head into wall till you go to plan b

It hurts because

This team was likeable, just so damn likeable. Darrun Hillard maybe one of my favorite Wildcats of all time. He is the kind of kid some day who will go on to do something great whether in sports or the business world, he will be modest about his achievement and look into a world like starry eyed kid from Bethlehm. I didnt know kids like Darrun existed, kids who just gave it there all, came from being a no name to playing a great basketball game on the biggest stage. Darrun you are a great kid, a great person, I for one will always be proud to have you as a fellow Wildcat!

JVP, had his up and downs in a Wildcat uniform. He had some great perfromances, he had some bad, he made bad decisions, he probably sacrificed more than any Wildcat in the history of the program.

I will remember when JVP got to cut down the last thread in NY, I will remember when Darrun Hillard was getting interviewed by Fox and all he wanted to do was leave the booth and go celebrate with his teammates, I will remember when our 6th man won the MVP and the entire team was about as excited as I have ever seen a team, I will remember how Jay Wright had the largest smile at MSG as he held the trophy and announced us Big East Champoins.

I will remember the joy this team brought us, I will remember it all and I am thankful for it all. Screw the media, screw whatever, you cant take away the joy this team gave us.

Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat.

...and that's why...

...winning the Big East Tournament was so important. This team will always be the 33-3 2015 Big East Champions. As the league continues to grow and thrive - no one can take that away.

It's always great to WIN something. I'll never forget those three days in NYC culminated by JVP with the net around his head and Josh getting the MVP with the entire team pumped for him.

Some will choose to remember the disaster tonight. I'll remember the thrill of NYC.

..and get excited for next year.

Our Challenge...

...was not bigs. We have bigs. They didn't play well tonight. Our problem was simple tonight - having a true breakdown guard. Gottfried's strategy was simple. Same strategy as PC and SHU/UCONN last year. Pressure us at the three point line and make us dribble drive. Arch/Ennis very average at best off the bounce. Hilliard good, but struggled to finish tonight. Jalen will help big time and Phil needs to continue to develop off the bounce, but looks good as a frosh.

It's about being able to dribble penetrate - beat your guy off the dribble and then finish and/or create looks for others if/when help comes...

Dana's article pretty soft on us...

I can't link but it really wasn't as "deep" as it could/should have been.....love our team but never buy the "it just wasn't our night" stuff.....we were the better team, but didn't play our game,we played the proverbial "not to lose" game, and lacked our usual confidence. I feel particularly bad for Dylan,he made great strides this year and was a big contributor to our success....he'll go to the gym today and make that shot 8-10 times....lots of talent still on the team and in the wings,we will be back.
