Notre Dame Decommit to Visit Nova

After very little noise beyond initial contact with a pair of Notre Dame decommits, it appears Villanova will secure a visit from one of them.

Brady Dunlap, a three-star recruit, is planning to take three visits and one of them will be to Villanova. He will also visit St. John's and Nebraska.

Known as an elite shooter, I was somewhat worried about a redundant skillset (and weaknesses) overlapping with Hausen. But after watching some film, I feel better about the fit. Dunlap (6-7) is indeed a strong shooter, but he has also shown an ability to take advantage of smaller defenders, particularly with a nice turnaround jumper, and can attack closeouts, especially with a one dribble pull-up. He can finish around the rim when he gets there, but more impressive is an ability to stop on a time when he gets a defender moving downhill. He looks like a player who has mastered ways to utilize his best weapon, which is his jump shot. He's unbothered shooting with defenders nearby, and is reasonably adept at using his off-hand to both dribble and finish at the rim.

While much of the attention this spring and summer will be focused on the transfer portal and the 2024 class, there's still a bit to keep an eye on in the 2023 class.

Caleb Williams Set For Nova Visit

Some more news on the recruiting front as 2024 SF Caleb Williams is set for an official visit to Villanova this week.

Williams picked up a Nova offer in July, one of the first few 2024 prospects offered by Kyle Neptune.

Williams attends Sidwell Friends in Washington, D.C.

There's been a flurry of minor action on the recruiting front lately, with Nova making list cuts for Sir Mohammed and Lathan Sommerville and hosting elite 2025 prospect Meleek Thomas for an unofficial visit. News of Williams' visit continues that trend as the Wildcats work on incredibly important 2024 and 2025 classes.

2025 Five-Star Meleek Thomas Takes Unofficial Visit to Nova

Meleek Thomas, the No. 7 ranked prospect in the class of 2025, is reportedly on an unofficial visit to Villanova Friday.

On Thursday, Thomas delivered the game-winning basket to give Lincoln Park the PIAA 4A state title over Philly powerhouse Neumann-Goretti.

Thomas picked up a Nova offer last month and will almost certainly be one of the priorities in the 2025 class.

Nova in Top 7 For 2024 C Lathan Sommerville

Another 2024 target has cut his list and included Villanova in his remaining contenders. This time it was big man Lathan Sommerville, who plays at The Skill Factory in Georgia. Sommerville picked up a Nova offer in December.

Sommerville, listed at 6-10, is currently a four-star recruit who is ranked No. 92 in the class.

Joining Villanova in contention for his commitment are Rutgers, Seton Hall, Bradley, Xavier, Missouri and Virginia Tech.

Nova in Top 6 For 2024 SG Sir Mohammed

A little bit of movement with the 2024 class Monday night as four-star 2024 shooting guard Sir Mohammed has cut his list to six schools, including Villanova. Joining the Cats in contention for Mohammed's commitment are Virginia Tech, Stanford, Penn State, Marquette, and Oklahoma.

Mohammed plays at Meyers Park in North Carolina. He is currently ranked 73rd in the class. He has held a Nova offer since late July.

Some schools that were cut by Mohammed include N.C. State, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi, Cincinnati, Providence, Xavier, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.
