Christian Bliss Cuts List to Four, Includes Nova

A class of 2024 target has trimmed his list to four schools and has included Villanova. Christian Bliss has named a top four of Villanova, Miami, Xavier and Virginia.

Bliss is a four-star prospect who is currently ranked No. 106 in the class. The 6-4 point guard plays at The George School in Newtown, PA. He received his offer in early January and visited unofficially during last season.

Nova, Miami and Xavier have been garnering the most buzz with Bliss, so it's no surprise to see those schools among his finalists. The Cats appear to be in good position here, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on as we head into summer.

Lot of Tyler Burton Buzz

It's getting hard to ignore the buzz surrounding Richmond transfer Tyler Burton and Villanova.

There was speculation that Burton would remain in the NBA Draft, but reports now indicate he is expected to remove his name and return for another college season. That report has sent rumors about him and Villanova into overdrive.

Burton averaged 19 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals last season at Richmond. At 6-7, he would provide some interesting size on the wing. His three-point shooting is somewhat of a concern as it has been inconsistent. Burton hit just 29.3% from deep last season, but connected on 36.5% in 2021-22, so the potential for serviceable three-point shooting is there. He's also been a mid-70s to low-80s free throw shooter. He thrives as an athletic slasher who can finish at the rim both with authority and finesse. He can also play with his back to the basket and has showed good footwork.

Part of me would still like to see the last scholarship go to a true big, but it's hard not to get excited about what Burton could bring. This certainly feels like something to keep an eye on.

Richmond Transfer Tyler Burton Commits to Nova

We mentioned yesterday that there was a lot of chatter linking Richmond transfer Tyler Burton with Villanova, and on Wednesday Burton officially committed to the Wildcats.

Burton averaged 19.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals last season for Richmond. He was a two-time All-A10 selection and tested the NBA Draft waters before deciding to return to college for his final season of eligibility. Burton brings a ton of experience, having played over 30 minutes a game in each of the last three seasons. At 6-7, he brings a good deal of versatility on the wing on both ends of the floor.

Kyle Neptune has done a great job working the transfer portal and has assembled an intriguing roster for the 2023-24 season.

Kentucky Transfer Lance Ware Commits to Nova

Kyle Neptune has again struck in the transfer portal, this time adding Lance Ware from Kentucky.

A member of the 2022 class, Ware was ranked No. 36 in his class. The 6-9 forward was stuck in a frontcourt logjam at Kentucky.

This is a nice get by Neptune and staff, continuing a strong performance in the transfer portal this season. With Ware's addition, much of the focus of roster construction shifts to the class of 2024.
