The rest of the Big East

Better ride our coat tails and hitting the recruiting trail. They need to sell everyone they talk to that this is a major conference. The lingering question of deep run has been answered. No excuse for the other programs not to ratchet up their recruiting based on our success. We saved the Big East and that is not overstating it. Now everyone else better get their act together and make sure it stays as a major conference. Get to work already!

Fundraising Opportunity

This is an incredibly unique time for Villanova as a University. They have a small window to use the championship as a major development/fundraising opportunity. Hopefully the powers that be are strategizing now on how to raise big $$$ off this event. Could set VU up for financial stability for future decades. The Pavilion renovation fundraising efforts just got a lot easier.

Ryan Arch

I have zero shame in starting this thread, Ryan played one of the best six game stretches you might ever see in March. The kid was a model of consistentcey in March, this year, and pretty much throughout his career. A true Villanova legend, hang his jersey!

I make no bones about, Arch is my favorite player in Nova history and has been since day 1. From his first game in his junior year at Neshaminey till now, one of the best pure basketball players I have ever seen. Always seemed to make the right decision and was always a team player. Who knew six years ago he would be the PG and MOP on a national title team? There was always something special about him. Outstanding player and career. Straw that stired the drink.

His career ended the way it should have, making the right basketball play and pass for the win.

Credit to Ryan Arch, an all time great!

What would it mean to you?

If Nova won this year?

In 85 I was a Georgetown fan. I was 10. Many here already scaled Everest, 1985.

I ask because the younger guys do not have your experience in winning it all. What was it like in 85? Please provide your best stories. For the younger guys it would be a way of passing stories down. There will always be generation divides on issues. What makes Nova special is the community. We are the midst of an amazing run which we all hope/believe ends up in post season success.

Personally, I've been blessed with a great life. The single most important moment of my life was when my first child was born. We had an amazing moment that will always be the single most important/special moment of my life...nothing will compete. My life now consists of things I love/value.

Nova winning would be a seminal moment in my life. It's all perspective and importance, but winning against the UK's, Duke's KU's etc.... would be so sweet. Winning one in this era would be so special. Younger guys haven't won one as you older guys did. that's a compliment. To me, it would be amazing.

Its an incredible feeling to win a National Championship but..........

its an even better feeling when you do it by dominating, and playing an incredible brand of basketball for six consecutive games-----which earned us the respect of everyone!!! And in addition to that, the grueling path we had to take to get to the finish line was one of the most, if not THE most difficult paths ever taken in tournament history------facing 2 #1's and a #2 seed------and having to beat 5 teams who were all ranked in the Top 5 at some point during the season!! So not only did we get it done, but we got it done in a very big and a very "memorable" way, not only for the Nova Nation-------but for the "Entire Nation"!!

So yes indeed, we definitely did it the Wright way!! :)

Championship painting

I'm an artist and typically do a painting of each year's Championship team. Here are some of my previous Championship paintings (http://www.jasonrobichau.com/#!championship-paintings/c19d5). I wanted to gauge the interest level of Nova fans in regards to me doing one of these paintings. They typically take about 3 months to complete.

With that in mind, I've set up a kickstarter page: Login to view embedded media . If this project gets funded, I promise that the painting will be amazing!

Congrats on an amazing victory! The game is an instant classic!

was the final play

the same we ran against SH earlier in the year? was Hart setting up for the fake handoff? i've seen it described in the press that Jenkins was the last option, but I don't think so. he was an option that at that particular time was wide open.

press has wondered why brice johnson was standing all by himself under the basket. could he have been anticipating archi faking the handoff and going to the rim?

Marchidiacono

As a lifelong Yankee fan I have seen numerous championships. I never thought I would ever compare a Nova player to Derek Jeter, but Ryan is the equivalent. He isn't the most flashy,he hustles, he's not the quickest, or the biggest. He is steady, he makes the right decisions, and he is a flat out winner!

It was a pleasure watching him (as it was Jeter) these past 4 years. He goes out in Dramatic fashion as a champion!
