3rd toughest tournament draw of all time...

"For example, where UNC's seed total is 48, Villanova's will be 29, putting it third toughest all time."

Didn't want to copy too much but check it out for more:

They are really putting it to UNC over there --

"For those of you who have to go to bed early tonight, I was able to get a transcript of the evening. Here are some highlights:

9:23 - Ryan Arcidiacono fouls out
9:24 - Jay Wright is ejected for arguing that Arcidiacono only has 2 fouls "

UNC

Probably been rehashed to death but there are million threads going and I don't see one to hook into:

I was really hoping it was going to be anyone but UNC - I still remember the March 25, 2005 game like yesterday - UNC has ripped our hearts out so many times before. I know the former players were hoping it was UNC and would love to beat them but if things go poorly tonight it's going to make it that much more difficult to take - I hate UNC and have hated them for longer than I can remember.

I was feeling pretty good about our chances but I just pulled their schedule and looked at common opponents and I'm feeling a little more nervous. UNC throttled Temple, lost @ UVA, beat UVA by 4 on a neutral court, throttled Providence. We have better wins vs. Kenpom teams and UNC has lost some weird games and played @BC very close (terrible), but they've also absolutely hammered some good teams.

Hope tonight is our night and the boys avenge 2005/2009.

Edit: just re-read this post...wow that's a rambling post - sorry guys my nervous energy is through the roof.

  • #1 Offense in the nation.
  • Play at the 15th fastest pace
  • #16 2pt shooting team off of lots of looks at the rim.

DEFENSE
JaanYa4.jpg

Shot Distribution: 30% Rim / 34% Mid-Range / 35% 3pt
  • #23 defensive team
  • 8th longest possession length on defense suggests they do an excellent job limiting transition.

  • Keep opponents off of the foul line (#50)
  • #59 in blocks
  • Really excel on 2pt defense, opponents shoot only 44% from 2pt (#24)

Shot Distribution: 24% Rim / 30% Mid-Range / 45% 3pt
  • Plays 76% of the game, and I think is more important to this team than people seem to realize. Marcus Paige isn’t the only guard on this team.

  • Extremely efficient offensive player, great at the basket and very good mid-range as well.
  • Excellent offensive rebounder (#80), solid defensive one.
  • Plays 42% of the game
  • Commits a lot of fouls (6.7 / 40 minutes)
  • Draws a lot of fouls, gets to the line a ton, and converts 76% of foul shots

  • Plays 42% of the game.
  • Excellent rebounder (#64 Offensive / #346 Defensive)
  • Excellent block rate.
  • Solid mid-range game.
  • Shoots 68% from the line.

OTHER THOUGHTS
  • This team is incredibly deep in the front court.
  • Marcus Paige shot well on Saturday at NRG, but the rest of the team was 1-10. It may be possible to pack it in on defense, and double off of everyone but Paige & Berry.
  • They get out and run on offense, need to limit transition.

Sorry guys, last write-up of the year!

The official I'm "working" but cannot concentrate on anything thread...

This is going to be a loooooonnnnnggggg day. 9:19 tipoff seems an eternity away. Can't start drinking yet either!

I love the fact that we've been the early game throughout the tourney. Jay has been able to script every element of the trips. No unknown waiting times between games. Like Jenkins said, all these kids have seen is the inside of planes, busses, hotels, locker rooms and the arenas. Completely #businesslike

With Hart going off on OK, I like the fact that UNC will probably focus on him a bit more. This will provide the space needed for Jenkins to shoot freely.

I think that we will see very few Villanova fast breaks, as we're going to key in on defensive rebounding, and keep people home.

That's all for now!

Mass at the team hotelinto

i haven't seen a thread on this so forgive me if I missed it.

My son an I went yesterday at 10:30. Fr Peter said they had 1000 hosts and they broke them up. When I received the Lord I am thinking the hosts were at least in half. So there were 2000 plus in grand ballroom a significant overflow into the hallway. The hotel was decorated all Nova with big pics of the team in several states spots.

Here are the highlights (can't believe I am writing about highlights at a mass because every week communion is a highlight of my week)

Fr Peter announces Jay can't make it because he is at another hotel receiving the Naismith COY. I assume the team was with him. Hugh applause.
Mass was quick until communion.
Fr Peter gave a very good homily on Jesus meeting the apostles and doubting Thomas. Funny how is it that ESPN has been the doubting Thomas for VU BB.
Longest communion lines I ever saw in person. Only three priests or deacons giving out communion.
The closing song is the VU Alma Mater.
The wine was either a Merlot or cab not the sweet wines usually at mass.
Fr. Peter says at the end, "I don't think UNC is doing this."
At the end a nice round of Lets go Nova.

In summation, this was as much pep rally as a mass. I do not say that in a disrespectful way because there 2000 smiling faces and I believe there should smiling faces at every mass because we come to meet Jesus.

Let's go Nova

Gottleib

Just ran into him and Wally at the concert downtown. We were all in the VIP section. I'm no VIP but ended up meeting the drummer of Maroon 5 today at the Shell Open and he gave me a couple passes (I'm not really a fan of the band and the drummer actually told me it's not his favorite style of music either as he prefers more true rock n roll). Anyway, back to Doug, I asked him off the record if he was pulling for anyone tomorrow. His comment was not really, but that he really likes this Villanova team. He said you end up getting to know the kids and it's really hard not to like the guys from Nova. Mentioned again that individually they don't wow you, but collectively they are great and just very likable and high character kids. Note I wasn't wearing any Nova gear and he still may very well be a douche (I have no opinion on this matter but know others do) but it was nice to hear him praise our guys. Of course it's nothing we all don't already know.

Watching game online outside US?

Just arrived in Bangalore India. Couldn't bail on trip.

When i tried March Madness app for first round (was in Bahamas) it said I could not stream from my location. I assume that was because I am outside of US. I have March madness site on my laptop , but cannot tell if I will have same issue.

I just downloaded the Tune In app, in case I am left with just radio. Not even sure if that works.

Anyone have any tips for someone who is not tech savvy?

Help Needed For Watching Final in London

So I have a can't miss business trip that I leave for tonight and any tips would be appreciated for watching the game Monday (or Tuesday morning in the UK).

I saw there was an alumni game watch in London last night, but there is no info posted about it for the final. (Game starts after 2:00 am so I may be SOL in that regard).

I also saw streaming is available with TBS app. Will I need to do anything special because I'm outside of the US?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Oklahoma - Revised Version

This weekend we celebrated the Villanova SIngers Legacy 2016 Reunion. It just so happened to coincide with the Final Four. We selected the music a few months ago. We originally picked "Oklahoma" as one of our selections. As luck would have it, we played and destroyed Oklahoma tonight. Listen to our "revised "version of Oklahoma performed by the Classes of 1957 - 2019. We had two big screens set up for a game watch at the event. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the night singing and watching the Wildcats crush Oklahoma with 200 of my closest friends. After dinner, the current Singers and alums made their way back to campus to celebrate the trouncing of Oklahoma.

Let's Go Cats!!!

Any suggestions for an encore?
