February 1, 1986 - 30 Years Ago Today....

Inaugural game at the Pavilion. Villanova 64, Maryland 62.

That was an exciting day in the history of the program (despite the fact that most of us can't stand the actual building itself).

Random recollections:
  • I remember watching the telecast on NBC. I am pretty sure that Al Maguire did color but I can't remember who did play by play. If I had to guess I would say Dick Enberg.
  • It seemed like it was very dark in the building that day, almost eerie
  • Len Bias was a beast
  • I remember reading in the newspaper that morning that the arena would be known as the John E. duPont Pavilion. I am guessing that those who were connected to the program knew about this in advance, but I had no clue. Hard to remember what life was like before the Internet/social media
  • I couldn't stand Lefty Driesell
  • I thought it was weird that you could see part of the track beyond the court
  • The building appeared to be so unique and cutting edge (at least on TV)

Game of Thrones

Can the geniuses of this board please tell me if this show is worth a watch for someone who doesn't have any interest in Lord of Rings or Harry Potter or Dungeons n Dragons and shit? People swear to me I will like it. Should I invest in this from the beginning? Or is it really corny?

Looking for a show to watch from the beginning. Never saw Walking Dead or Sons of Anarchy either. These seem to be the other options.
