observing and wondering

Watching some early season games and seeing Creighton's Maurice Watson (who isn't the best decision-maker yet) and Monmouth's Justin Robinson be quite effective as small, quick guards I am wondering if Chris Lykes could be a good option for 'Nova to add to the backcourt mix in 2017.
The Cats could conceivably add a ball-handler before that class if someone emerges but with the new rules and the 30 second shot clock and the projected 'Nova roster being quite taller/longer than normal but perhaps needing a dose of quickness ... maybe a little jet who can be a pesky on-the-ball defender and help set an up-tempo pace would be a nice option to have on the roster.
Lykes is only about 5'6", 150 but he has quickness, motor, smarts and some scoring ability.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that the team depth that was considered to be one of our strengths, has become awfully thin. Initially, a ten man squad seemed to enough to navigate a 30 game schedule, but now we're down to eight, and Reynolds cannot be considered a 25 minute a night guy. Considering how hard our team plays, both individually and collectively, I have concerns that sixteen games in January and February will leave us with tired legs in March. Here's hoping I'm wrong .

In spirit of Christmas a prediction and a promise

From this moment, we beat UVA. My last post until the game ends or a month passes. We match up well and we win.too much over-reaction to a loss. Everyone wins. Nova wins, we're happy but I'm back. We lose, I take a month off, everyone is happy.

I have reserved a table with a view. There will be dinner, dancing, and an after dinner drink. Nova is taking UVA to poundtown. Take the points and believe. If we lose, Merry Christmas to all....even BEEFER.

Jay's next Radio show is at Sam's in Ardmore on Tuesday, 12/29/15

Sam's Brick Oven Pizza is at 2626 E County Line Rd, the day after we play Penn at home. Jay mentioned the change of venue for the next show at the end of last night's show.

That County Line Rd is not the one that becomes Haverford Avenue as you travel from Lancaster Avenue. If
Instead you traveled up Ardmore Avenue from Haverford Avenue toward Lancaster Avenue then turned right on County Line Rd you'd get to Sam's after passing both the big and little Italian Clubs. At least one of our NN members would have played Bocce at one of those two.

Our great Gold Medal Pole Vaulter, Don Bragg had a meeting at that emporium after a home coming a few years ago. Don previously met in the Pavillion after the FB Homecoming game because of the rain. I bought one of Don's books there. Great book.

In the book Don mentioned that his dad picked Don up the next day after the PSU FB game. Don's Dad looked at the trash cans that had been put out at PSU with all the empty beer and liquor bottles. Dad said you're not going to college there. Both Villanova and Penn State weren't named universities until the same November day of our our freshman year. Don found out that dad had had a conversation with Jumbo before picking Don up at PSU. Don became a Wildcat. Thank goodness we didn't drink:).

Michelle Thornton, our Hall of Fame women's Basketball player, now with her last name Eberz, bartender at what's now Sam's with her sister back when.

Update and memories.

Educate me: The tumble of oil

So I'm reading that oil is reaching crisis level lows, but not sure I see the whole picture here. Someone fill me in (SPG?) on why tumbling oil prices is such a bad thing...

Here's what I (think I) know:

1) I'm largely a top-line guy within a CPG/On-site arm of a sizable US company. I see all this OPEX favorability (due to lower freight, among other things) that allows us to invest a little more in marketing, trade, R&D, people, etc. It's been a big part of some good tailwinds we've experienced that i would file away under the umbrella of temporary external factors - and i would consider it a very good thing in this context

2) i get that US energy companies are probably hurting as a result of falling prices, but eff those guys. they're huge price gougers and their value chain has been so ridiculously upside down for years (in a way that benefits them), so i dont feel bad for them in the least. if they arent hedged for this type of thing, that's on them

3) this has to hurt regimes in the ME and groups like ISIS that rely on oil revenue to support their nation/faction/etc... again, not the worst thing from my perspective

So... what am i missing?
