#2 in the RPI

Per cbs. Finally passed the RPI juggernaut that is the Kansas Jayhawks, only took them getting their 8th loss

2 rpi. 2 in the polls. Tied for most top 50 wins with iowa state which is 5 more than Virginia Wisconsin and Arizona, 2 more than duke and 3 more than Kentucky

There's pretty much no metric where we aren't number 2 which is pretty damn exciting (other than that everyone seems to think those teams are better)

Attitude and hustle

What came out last night is our attitude and hustle. Arch with sore ribs dove and slid at lease three times ala Dwayne Anderson from 2009 to get his hand on some tips. The whole team is pulling out the stops and will be a hard out for any team when they play like that. Especially impressive on Day 3 of a strenuous tournament. If they keep this up they can beat anyone even Kentucky. We will take it one game at a time and stay focused because that is the Nova way. We are as selfless as they come and team oriented to the hilt. Jay and staff have done and will continue to do a A+ job.
The improvement in DE, DO, DH, Phil, Josh is a credit to hard work and a staff that is second to one. Can't wait to see what else March has to bring.
They make you proud to be a Villanovan.

Josh Hart

Turning into one of my favorite Nova players EVER.

One of the toughest SOB's we'll ever see in a Nova uni. Do we really get 2 more years of this kid? He's proof that rankings are subjective. Hart was a consensus 85-125 low top 100 recruit.

There aren't many kids in America that I would rather have on my team that Hart.

Big East regular season AND post season tournament champs!! What a special group of kids and what a special season.

Since the Robert Morris game 4 years ago

I can't help to think back to the nova teams over the last 4 years and think about the awesome nova teams (save 1) and how proud I was over the course of the regular season only to see them lay a duck and get super right during tourney time. It was sickening.

I love this years team and it has been so damn fun, so please someone give me my sanity back and tell me that we won't see the shakiness of years prior.

Now don't get me wrong, this years team has a different dna (best record plus winning the BET says a lot), and yet all of the previous teams amassed great records, were 2 or higher, yet couldn't make the second weekend.

Can someone please sell me on the fact that this team won't get cold. That we won't go shoot 3/26 from 3 in a game?

I've been a nova fan since I really can remember (father a season ticket holder since the 80s) and so I have seen some great tourney teams (really only the last decade) so I know this is a more recent phenomenon.

I mean no ill will in this post. I truly believe that this is a final 4 team, but the last 3 tourneys are stuck in my head. And let's not just say it's a different set of players, because Hilliard and Pinkston have been a part of these teams, and without looking it up, have had troubles themselves.

Anyway, excited for buildup to this next weekend. Enjoying the ride, but just some musings from a guy with a little insomnia.

Interesting Take From a Non-Nova Fan on Donte DiVicenzo

I have a buddy who is a Delaware grad and fan who is a hoops junkie who regularly attends high school games. This is also a guy who knows talent level. (For example, he is always pointing out that Delaware HS competition is below par).

I asked if he thought Donte could ever start for 'Nova. His take:

"It never crossed my mind that he would not eventually start for Nova. He has improved quite a bit on his stroke. His ability to rise from deep is really impressive. Hell, if Trevor Cooney can start for Cuse, Donte should be able to start for Nova. Granted, Nova's recruits a different caliber of guard, but Donte looks like real deal athletically and he is a legit 6-3 or 6-4 I think."

He thinks Donte has improved tremendously since last season.

My own take on Donte is that he has close to elite Big East athleticism. He has worked on his handle. Personally, I feel he can develop into a really solid player. He is extremely unselfish and is a "good fit" for Jay.

Ace just dropped me off at my car at Rick and Marilyn'shouse

Thank you Adam and for bringing up Sal and Patty too today and dropping them off at their house a little while earlier. Tonight's game was magical. What a great job by Jay, his assistants his entire team for such a wonderful bunch of memories. I had been up there with two decks, Billy, since Wednesday, watching almost every game except for one night when I got sick. Mr Chi, had predicted that Josh Hart would become Tourney championship MVPS if he had a decent game in the final. Of course Josh had much more than a decent game being the only sub who had ever been named MVPS.

On the way home I asked Ace if he wanted me to read any posts on my IPad after reading some titles. Sure. So that was our going home pastime. Some interesting and many insightful posts and reminiscents. I'm a klutz on remembering names so I'll leave them off except to say that Father Peterr stopped in to the jammed Stout prepare celebration near the end that included many more than VUsports guys because I asked one Italian guy who came over to introduce himself to Adam because he had seen him at so many VU functions. He wasn't.

Need to go to bed now. Congratulations to all VIllanova fans especially for those who helped almost pack the Garden tonight and all those who were there all the other night too. Thanks Eric for his specials even though I only went to tonight's and thanks TDS too.

I can't stand those when they belittle the Big East trying to be so knowledgeable in their criticisms. It's our league. It's where we are and where we're going to be. Getting 60% of our teams into the tourney if that happens will be amazing.

Thanks Jay for what you are doing. Awesome.
