2016 Phillies Season

Nola with a great start: 7 IP, 8 Ks, 95 pitches. Am I just being negative, or does this entire trio (TMac, Stairs, Ben Davis) annoy the hell out of anyone else?

These starting pitchers will be completely disheartened by midseason. Or by May.

Being negative? No!!!!!

But TMac is the maestro and I give the other two spass because he's so annoying.

2/3 of the outfield is occupied by late inning defensive specialists. Nick William will be brought up very quickly.
Hamels trade will pay off immensely. Giles trade already proving to be a disaster.

How Giles trade already proving to be a disaster? If they were built to win today, do you think this the pen they would trot out there? Yea, it sucks that the pen blows, but that doesn't mean they won't strike on 2 or 3 of those pitchers they got back from HOU.

The Giles trade doesn't hinge on April games. It's success is judged by how the players turn out.
Exactly. The prime piece in that trade hasn't even pitched yet! Everyone knew that late innings would be a problem spot this year, but like ND said who cares?

No one has a bigger sweet spot for RH than you.
I will never say a bad word about him. He is probably my favorite Philadelphia athlete in my lifetime not named Allen Iverson. And the love affair with him began when he came up for his rookie season in 2005. But 2006 was by far my favorite year though - he single single handedly carried the Phillies that year and kept them in the race. That was about the time I really got back into following baseball very closely.

Hard to believe I'm still watching Ryan Howard struggle to get the ball out of his f*cking glove when they have a guy picked off.

To his credit, he has a HR tonight and Phils lead 1-0 in the 8th.

I stopped watching when VV came out after 6. He's a fantastic looking pitcher.

After VV came out in the 7th I stopped watching entirely to watch the fights. I'm frankly stunned they held a 1 run lead over 3 innings, and Hernandez actually pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Not sure how that happened but I'm certain the Mets swung at alot of garbage nowhere near the plate.

Phillies take 2 of 3 from los Mets.

Great start to the year for the Dark Knight...clearly something wrong. And now deGrom is missing his next start. Has the shine worn of the turd already?

It was polish on the turd. Not a shine.

Ryan Howard with a 2 walk game last night!!! He had two of those last season.

The Phils' pen over last two games -- 6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 Rs, 1 BB, 6 Ks, two saves. In other words, a miracle.

Phillies have 2 guys in that pen that actually get somebody out. Neris and Jeanmar Gomez. They can't pitch everyday. They're pitching everyday right now.

The new outfielders on the team cant hit MLB fastballs according to Ricky Botalicco

Pen with 4 straight games of not allowing a run. If they can limit the dumpster fire outings to once a week then I'll be thankful.

It appears the Phils really have something in Nola, Eickhoff, Velazquez in that rotation. I'm still amazed anyone pitches to Mikael Franco.

I'm going to start monitoring possible 1st overall picks soon. Looks like a local kid, a 6'5" LHP HS'er from So. Jersey could be the guy. Pitched a no-hitter with 19 K's the other day. Last pitch was 94 MPH.

We'll be having fun times down at the ballpark in 2-3 years. Probably start another long sellout streak.

If Jake Thompson is also as advertised this could be a scary group. Groome or A.J Puk look like they'll be the 1st pick but I wouldn't blame them for grabbing a bat. I don't think they will though. This team really needs Crawford, Williams and Alfaro to be good.

Those happen every 20 years. Don't worry, you've got time before buying that ten game plan.

Cool. Maybe the Nats won't still be underachieving by then.

adp - nats with a nice start to the season. I think they run away with this division - similar to 2014 - and then once the playoffs start who knows? They are almost under the radar because the Mets are getting all the attention in the NL East. I criticized the Dusty Baker hire but it's clear that he is going to be a good fit. From an outside observer it just seems like they are much more loose this season.

Had the same conversation with a buddy this morning. Totally different vipe. The Murphy for Desmond swap could not have worked better. If they are healthy this club will surprise. Obviously it also helps when you play the Braves 5 times.

Bitter defensive post by a bitter defensive CoPer.

Not bitter at all. Like you, I like the Phillies' current plan and I think things could be good much sooner than 20 years (ADP's douchey comment that you just happen to let slide by). Ohh, I wonder why????
