David Wright's Career Remembered?

Was it 2 years ago, Burrs, or 3-4 years ago when you called this? I see both figures reported here. Just looking for accuracy.

I referenced two different players, sweetie. Pay attention better :)

HOF Monitor: (HOFers Avg - 100)
Wright 74
Rollins 119

HOF Standard: (HOFers Avg - 50)
Wright 36
Rollins 40

In the end they both might have a zero chance, but Rollins is closer.

Speaking of the Mets, I see where they are currently out of position for second wildcard too.

No Memorial Day Weekend Championship this year for Mets fans. Will have to settle for that May 1 title I guess, you guys had the Nats really questioning themselves for a few weeks.

WAR/7, Jesus.....what will these nerds create next?

The saber stuff has its place. It can be valuable. But these cats that live and die with it are too much.
You don't think that a measure of how good a player was in his prime is valuable?

Conversely, Harper is having a monster year. Remember when people here were calling him overrated and a bust? He's still younger than Kris Bryant and Joc Perderson.

Only people who called Harper a bust were those that knew nothing about the game of baseball.

He has played 541 professional games and still has yet to face a pitcher who is younger than him at any level.

Jimmy Rollins led the league in triple and SBs at 22. Hopefully Harper can keep it up and lead the league in something this year (other than injuries from reckless dives).

Currently leading in HRs, Runs, OPS, SLG , WAR and BBs - he has a decent shot of that I'd say.

Bernie Williams was a better postseason player than David Wright.

More 9th inning ALCS walk off homers
More ALDS MVPs
More national anthems played by jazz guitar

Will the Phillies ever beat the Mets again?

The Phillies are this bad despite the fact that Ryan Howard is hitting for power not all that far off of his career averages.

I like the kid Franco. He's going to be a very good player at the MLB level. Last night he made a bare-handed play to keep the game tied in the 9th that was pure gold. Going to be a good one.

The Phillies are at the worst vs the Mets and the Mets are at their best versus them the last two years. If you take away the head-to-head games between the two teams their records over last year and so far this year is Phillies (85-98) and Mets (85-97). The Mets are 21-7 versus the Phils the last two years. They even won the final three of 2013, so that's 24 of last 31 for the Mets (NYM won season series 10-9 in '13). The frustrating part of it is that many of the games have been tight (Of course today wasn't). Last year the teams played 6 extra inning games and four more that were 1-run differences without extras. Even this year 7 of the 9 games have been competitive. Those last three games of 2013, all Met wins, were decided by one run, too.

Teams are headed in the opposite direction. That's pretty clear at this point.

agreed.......But the Mets are still just ok (at best) vs the rest of baseball. Yes, the Phillies stink.

Simply pointing out the numbers from the last two years.

The Mets' rotation can be special if they all stay healthy. The line-up and pen is ok at best.

The good thing is that on average the opposite directions trend only last 4 years or so.

Bullpen's actually one of the better one in baseball, not just the NL. Their 2.64 ERA is the fifth-best mark in baseball. They are fifth in baseball in strikeout rate at 25.0 percent, and their 8.3 percent walk rate ranks tenth, and that is with Alex Torres walking a million guys and Blevins, Parnell and Black not playing.

I think he can have a nice career. He is a pretty good defender already and you'd think that he will only get better as he gets more experience at the MLB level. He is very aggressive at the plate - rarely takes pitches, let alone walks - so at some point he is going to need to adjust as the book on him is put together. He has power to all fields and from what I have seen so far he hits the ball up the middle a lot.

I see no reason why he can't be a .280-.300 hitter with a slugging % in the the .450 - .550 range. Maybe a 20-30 HR guy. I'd love if he can become the poor man's Adrian Beltre. Note, I am not comparing him to Adrian Beltre, just saying he could be a notch below what Beltre has been his whole career, a good power hitter that plays gold glove caliber defense.

arak, I tend to agree. He's a piece.

BTW, anyone seen Nardi lately. I'm looking for his thoughts on Bryce Harper? He's been awful quiet lately.
