Eric, nice job again and sorry to steal your thunder here. One thing that struck me and doesn't seem to have changed is that Lappas still doesn't get what it means to be the basketball coach at Nova. He talks about the bond with his players and that's all he cared about. What makes Jay so different, and lets face it we're spoiled rotten, is that he gets what it means beyond the court. It's not just about the bond with the players. It's about being the number employee and embracing Nova Nation. Even to this day Lappas doesn't get it. He was awful during his time and made no effort to embrace the students and broader community of Villanova alums etc...He mentions going to hospitals, which is nice, but nothing about the broader community/fanbase outside of crazy Mel from Cherry Hill. Aside from his coaching, it was my biggest complaint with Lappas. I hope there is a question coming that asks if he has any regrets about not embracing the on campus role of being the Nova head coach.
