Just perused the qualifiers for indoor NCAAs. Men had three individuals and DMR. Progress since no individuals qualified, last year. Women had four individuals and DMR. That is on par with Stanford and better than G'town.

No Piccirillo. Schappert made it based on last chance meet. Angel did not do as well. No McEntee. Won Big East 3000 in not so fast 8:10. Surprised they did not work harder at qualifying him.

But what was surprising was looking at qualifiers from other schools. Do a Google.

Top two women mile qualifiers were from Florida St. - and that excluded Georgia Peel. Thinking Penn Relays: that is three outstanding legs of a 4x1500.

Final female mile qualifier was Rebekah Greene of Florida. She is the outstanding young woman of about two years ago from New Zealand that I heard VU was looking at. She sort of disappeared and now is a frosh at Florida. Wonder what happened here? It is not like the VU frosh recruits were better. It is not like it was too far from home. $? Climate? Grades? Just interesting because VU is an active recruiter in that region.

NovaAlum, thanks. Thought there were a couple, but indoor statistics at VU website said no. Now I "discover" my memory wasn't that bad after-all... Thanks, again.

New Zealand that I heard VU was looking at.
I did a search and and one of the NZ papers did a rundown on her career a day or two before Christmas (when she committed).
Apparently majoring in nutrition is important to her as she had attended a NZ U' for that major. It was prob' a factor in the 3 U's she visited (Mich,SUNY-Sb,UF). She came to the conclusion that she couldn't stay in NZ and get qual times for major championships like the Comm Games and the Olympics.

I've come to the conclusion that top US girls are going to the elite academic schools and WJC types like Greene seem to be trending towards the good weather mega U's (like UF,UT,UA FSU). Things get tougher every year.

No Piccirillo
Wasn't she listed on one of the relays? I'll have to go back and check.
