After very little noise beyond initial contact with a pair of Notre Dame decommits, it appears Villanova will secure a visit from one of them.
Brady Dunlap, a three-star recruit, is planning to take three visits and one of them will be to Villanova. He will also visit St. John's and Nebraska.
Known as an elite shooter, I was somewhat worried about a redundant skillset (and weaknesses) overlapping with Hausen. But after watching some film, I feel better about the fit. Dunlap (6-7) is indeed a strong shooter, but he has also shown an ability to take advantage of smaller defenders, particularly with a nice turnaround jumper, and can attack closeouts, especially with a one dribble pull-up. He can finish around the rim when he gets there, but more impressive is an ability to stop on a time when he gets a defender moving downhill. He looks like a player who has mastered ways to utilize his best weapon, which is his jump shot. He's unbothered shooting with defenders nearby, and is reasonably adept at using his off-hand to both dribble and finish at the rim.
While much of the attention this spring and summer will be focused on the transfer portal and the 2024 class, there's still a bit to keep an eye on in the 2023 class.
