Obama legacy

I'm just waiting for when Thomas and Scalia - the two biggest scumbags on the Supreme Court - are OUT.

i dont think lost or gained seats resonates with 95% of the public.

his legacy will be "yes we can...(get elected)"

Obama legacy = doubling the national debt to 20 trillion putting the country on the brink of financial collapse and him blaming it on George Bush.

You and Hillary have a lot in common with your penchant for lies, half-truths, deception, and avoiding questions.

nope - wont be his legacy.

people obviously dont give a shit about that, and obama isnt the only president to run up debt. he wont stand out for that one.

it will be "yes we can"/first black president

everything else will be forgotten... unless ISIS nukes us in the next year. and even that would prob stick to bush.

this isnt about what his legacy SHOULD be, its about what it WILL be --- most people just dont give a shit about actual performance, they just blindly support their "team"

7 years ago all those state legislators, governors and congressmen were swept into office on Obama's pimp coat tails. No surprise they were almost all ousted. It's the same as all the tea party congressmen who lasted 2 years.

Rightly or wrongly, his legacy will be:

  • Getting the Affordable Care Act passed
  • Running the country during a period of dramatic stock market growth and a steep decline in the unemployment rate
  • Eliminating lots of bad guys from the chess board using remote control aerial killing machines
  • Being largely unable to bridge the partisan divide (something he claimed he would be able to do)

The blame lies with several administrations as the Community Reinvestment Act dates back to 1977. During the Clinton administration there was a big push for "affordable housing" which in turn became subprime loans. Glass-Steagll (separation of commercial and investment banking) was repelled during Clinton's watch. Bush contributed as well and Obama was left with the hand grenade.

Obama's legacy will be making health insurance much more expensive than it was when he took office.

I agree that all the presidents from Johnson moving forward are in part responsible for the national debt. But, only Obama can take credit for doubling it and running up more debt in his term than any other president. 10 trillion $$$.

I agree with numbers 1 and 3. While number 2 happened, I don't think that will be his legacy because that is not what he was aiming for. He wanted more income and wealth equality and the disparity is even more severe. Plus most folk chalk it up to QE anyway. As for number 4, you are right that he claimed he would do it but I am not sure he intended to (you have to say you will). Certainly, that divide is even greater now than when he took office and I think he is primarily responsible for that situation worsening.

The key will be the aca. Looking as if it will be a massive failure. However, he passed it and it will be modified forever. Thanks obama. No really, thanks.

The national debt doubled under Reagan as well------FoyeEffect

No such thing as infinitely smaller. Trillions smaller, yes.

Either way..........the national debt doubled under Reagan or it didn't. It did.
First President to add 10 trillion to the national debt.

1st President to ruin our shot at a Final Four run....

271,000 more fake jobs added to the economy in October.

This pinko, socialist, remorseless killing machine needs to go!

Does it really matter? We live in an oligarchy anyhow. The President at this point is just a figure head, nothing more.

Not sure it will be his legacy and was touched on above by Strick, but when we look back I really think more will be made of Obama's death from above approach with drones. Bush, Cheney and Rummy in their wildest dreams probably never imagined the drone wars expansion Obama has reigned over.

This thread got me thinking. I would do a Poll:poll but not sure how..

Which position has a greater impact on your life: President of the United States or Head Coach of the Villanova Mens Basketball Team?

Obama's legacy will be making health insurance much more expensive than it was when he took office.

I seem to recall that health care was much more expensive when GWB left office than when he took oath...similarly during Clinton's term of office...health care costs have been spiraling out of control for decades nothing new there...the fact that he was the only one to actually address it and get comprehensive reforms enacted may not be such a bad legacy....get back to me 20 years....
