Despite the fact that her mother is former Villanova All-American Celeste Halliday, Villanova was never under serious consideration by Sydnee Over (Windsor, CT). She just made it official and committed to Florida State. Here is the story:

Track: Windsor's Sydnee Over to run at Florida State

10:43 p.m. EST, December 10, 2012

Windsor senior Sydnee Over, who finished second at the New Balance Outdoor National championships in

the 800 meters last year, will run at Florida State next year.

Over, who plays basketball in the winter and runs cross country in the fall, was the New England and State Open 800-meter outdoor champion and the Class L 400 and 800 meter champion. She chose Florida State over Penn State, North Carolina, Virginia, Kansas and Texas A&M, among others.
She was the Courant's outdoor track runner of the year as a sophomore and a junior. Her mother, Celeste Halliday-Over, was an Olympic alternate in the 800 meters in 1992, a Pan Am Games bronze medalist and an All-American at Villanova.

FSU is really using its weather advantage to do some interesting things rather than just maintain its sprint school image. I would imagine it's difficult to recruit internationally with partials but maybe they are getting some of those UK MD runners to pay some of their own way? They are on their way to being a consistent CC power.

Didn't Ajee Wilson also chose Florida State, but is sitting out this year to prepare for the World's?

Cannot believe the talent this school is getting. Yes, it is a state school, but still how do they do it?

Checked out their website. See link.

Note that Track & Field News rated their men as the top recruiting class and women no. 7. Note also they have Georgia Peel (GBR). Wasn't there a tall blond female miler from England (Hannah England?) a couple of years ago who was good? Maybe VU should think seriously about pursuing Jessica Judd (GBR)...? Doubt she will leave England, but one can always dream ...

Emma Keenan is looking better and better and I believe someone posted that she is interested in VU.

Hannah England did go to FSU, as did the Borlee brothers from Belgium. They have an embarrassment of riches from Europe, it seems.

As for Keenan, that girl looks like she has Sebastian Coe type range.

Very good ... Nice comparison with Sebastian Coe, Coe ran a 46.87 (400) and a little below average height (5'9"). Keenan looks to be of average height - 55.85 (400), 2:07.06 (800). Ran XC this past season for the first time. Normally does field hockey. Over and Keenan finished 2nd and 3rd at New Balance outdoor championships. Keenan ran a less than smart race - out too fast and running wide for nearly a lap. She should be strong at 800 and mile. And she wants to come. A must sign.
