Santorum...

Is he just getting desperate or does he really think that referring to college grads as "snobs" is going to work in these primaries???

Even funnier is that Santorum says that Obama wants all to go to college so they can be indoctrinated and that there is nothing wrong with going to comm. college or trade school. Ironically, if you look at the State of the Union Address, that is the SAME EXACT MESSAGE that Obama made in that speech. They both agree that not everybody should go to college but that all should at least go to a trade school or something to get skills that will make them marketable. They both have the SAME stance but Santorum is trying to make points with this argument.

I just don't get it.

Lady Cats 68-60 over Syracuse

Finishing the regular season with a comeback win over the Orange on Senior night. Both seniors started. Lindsay Kimmel sank 5 treys, 4 during the first half and got taken out for an injury that didn't seem too serious. Roberts got a leg injury late in the game that could be a problem. Sweeney was in foul trouble throughout yet made some key contributions at both ends. RFR Lauren Bufford scored two treys late in the game. Our whole team played tough and earned a tough victory.

The Cats scored 42% on FG's, 53+% on treys and 80% from the line.

Big East

Lots of good things. To me, the women's DMR was the most interesting. They came in second, but there were two times I thought were meaningful. Lipari ran the 800 in 2:05 and Akande ran the 1600 in 4:40.

I don't know what they're thinking as far as individual events, but if Nova wanted to go to ND and qualify a DMR for the NCAA's, a team of Akande 1200, Verdier 400, Lipari 800, and Mimic 1600 might be very competitive.

At Penn this spring, Mimic, Verdier, Lipari, and Reid could be difficult to beat. The 800 leg has been a problem for years; I was wondering when they might run Lipari there.

Are we already at War?

And we just don't know about it?

Iranian scientists have been getting killed. Then the Iranians go after Israeli Diplomats around the world. Now, they try and assassinate the Defense Minister, Ehud Barak?

Crazy to think we could be on the brink here and no one is making the connections.

And what happens, electorally, if we're forced into bombing Iran? I assume a huge win for Obama in the Fall?

Jolly Fat Man thread

I'm having trouble posting in that thread-I keep getting an error message.

kj-I don't have a sister, but I do have a thing for my cousin Dupree.

What is this 15%? (by the way I've never seen an estimate anywhere near 15% of the population being gay. It's usually in the the 3-4% range) Is that the cut off? So if 0.001% of the population is biologically attracted to a family member they shouldn't be allowed to marry?

DMR at Millrose

Right now, VU looks like this: Fitzsimons (1200), Apwah (800), Ellison (400), McEntee (1600). Can it compete with Dublin City University (DCU)? Or even Virginia with Andrews, etc? Ironically by moving to Armory, it actually helps VU, because other than Apwah, the boys are fairly tall and the Armory track is bigger than Garden’s ? I believe 8 laps to the mile vs 11+ to the mile.

Burford Big East Frosh of the Week!

Congratulations to Lauren Burford who is the Big East Freshman Player of the Week. The Nova website and the Big East website have the story, including video on the B/E website.

She also was honorable mention for Big Five player of the week.

Josh Lampron (4:05.99 miler) Inks with Villanova

Josh Lampron, who won the 2011 New Balance Outdoor Nationals mile championship last June as a junior, formally committed on February 4th to run for Marcus O'Sullivan's Villanova squad.

At New Balance Nationals last year Lampron, who hails from Mansfield, Massachusetts, won gold by setting a new mile PR of 4:05.99 -- the 6th fastest mile run by a US prep in 2011. His 2011 indoor 1000 meter time of 2:29.77 was the 10th fastest in the country last year.

Lampron is the reigning Massachusetts state champion in both the indoor mile and outdoor 800 meters. Lampron started off the 2011 cross country season as the #9 ranked harrier in the United States, according to Mile Split, before an injury derailed his season.

Lampron has the following 2011 PRs:
400 meters: 51.24
800 meters: 1:53.13i
1000 meters: 2:29.77i (USA #10)
1500 meters: 3:50.03
1 Mile: 4:05.99 (USA #6)
5K XC: 16:06.82
