You all know I love Villanova swag. That said, uh, I am just going to leave this here for discussion.

those ugly ass uniforms!!!! I have no idea who approved or who supported wearing those things, but I suspect there must be a "profit motivation" in there somewhere--------what other possible reason could there be for allowing our players to look so bad on the court aesthetically!! And the bigger question I guess is how could our impeccably attired coach allow his team to wear them----------I really dont get it!! We are not Georgetown, thank God, so lets not try to emulate how THEY look on the court---------actually, they would probably be better served trying to emulate how WE look on the court as the #1 team in the country!!
I think it actually might have made our guys "self-conscious" and a bit nervous about their drab and dull appearance on the court, it probably gave St. Johns more incentive to make sure they didnt lose to a team that looks that unsightly, and of course It probably made our guys miss all those 3 point shots due to the sheer embarrassment of their athletic attire!! In fact for a minute there I thought the ref's were huddling up to discuss giving us one of those little known and rarely called "appearance technicals"-----which comes with a loss of possession, 5 free throws for the opponent, and a mandatory uniform change!!
Some silliness of course and some tongue in cheek stuff but the bottom line for me is that IMO those uniforms must NEVER again see the light of day--------bad appearance = bad karma = bad luck = bad performance, and thats what those ugly ass uni's meant to me tonight!!
Therefore, IMO there's really no need to go back and forth here searching for the answers for our sub-par performance tonight because I honestly think I just laid it all out perfectly for you!

I may have just witnessed one of the worst official calls in history. Stone should have been ejected from that game....CLEAR Flagrant 2 call. He smashed his head into the ground!

Head Coach Jay Wright Opening Statement:

“Not one of our best performances, but I think you need to give St. John’s a lot of credit. They used a lot of length defensively. They played [Malik] Ellison at the point a lot. They just played a big, long team that seemed to bother us. We were fortunate to go inside to Daniel [Ochefu]. We didn’t make a three-pointer in the first half. In the second half, not only did Daniel score, but he made some great passes by kicking the ball out. It’s the balance of our team. We’ll take it when you don’t play particularly well defensively.”

Jay Wright on St. John’s:

“We had 15 turnovers and shot 21 percent from three. They shot 40 percent from three. That’s how they beat Syracuse hitting those threes. They had ten threes. That’s exactly how they beat Syracuse. To be able to find a way to win I do feel good about it.”

Wright on grinding out a game when Villanova is struggling from three:

“St. John’s did a great job. Amar Alibegovic had four three-pointers. Malik Ellison goes 2-for-3 from three. If you look at those guys numbers that doesn’t equate to what they normally do. There was a part of it that we did what we were supposed to do. We played against a team that really made big shots. We still kept our composure and found a way to win. There were a couple of offensive rebounds that we got that kept us alive. Going inside to Daniel, getting to the foul line are just some of those little things you need to do when you’re not making shots. I was happy about that.”

Wright on the lessons of tonight as they prepare for Temple Wednesday night:

“Our value of the basketball and taking care of the basketball. It’s been a problem for us. We have been sloppy with the ball. I thought we lost a little defensive intensity tonight when certain lineups were in there. We’ll address that. We got to keep getting better. We know we have to keep getting better.”

Ryan Arcidiacono on whether or not there was pressure tonight playing as the No. 1 team at home for the first time:

“No, I think St. John’s came out and executed their game plan. We didn’t really execute our game plan. I don’t think there was any added pressure. We already played a game as No.1. That’s something we don’t even think about or talk about. It was the same routine that we always do at the hotel the day of the game and with the walk through today. It was just another game for us.”

Daniel Ochefu on whether or not there was a sense of urgency to get the ball inside:

“Definitely not. Urgency is always intense in all of our games. We try not to rely on our offense. We just try to make sure our defensive rebounding is good so that can win the game for us.”

But it's necessary.

Brutal week for most of the Top 10. A lackluster performance by Villanova against SJU comes out looking fortunate compared to the rest. Maybe Pitt can handle UNC tomorrow? Only Kansas and Villanova emerge unscathed. Love it

Came over the twitter feed about 20 minutes ago. Looks like either President Obama will have one more appointment to the Supreme Court, or the stakes in the next election just went sky high.

He passed away on a West Texas ranch (not clear that he owned the property). The announcement was made by Texas Governor Greg Abbott this afternoon.

When you watch Reading play, it is easy to notice Walker. His skills, and athleticism, are far superior to any other player on the court, but he is not featured in the Red Knights offensive scheme. Sort of like Michael Jordan playing for Dean Smith at Carolina

To be fair, he has some decent parts around him. (3 other players in double figs tonight), but Walker can go 4 or 5 possessions without touching the ball

Reading now begins play in the Pennsylvania State District 3 AAAA Playoffs, starting this week, They are ranked 2nd in the District, 5th in the State in the "Big School" Classification. They can make some noise, but worry about the guidance from the bench

It would seem a Walker IV v Dylan Painter matchup will not occur. Looks like Painters' Hershey HIgh side did not qualify for the Top 20 teams in the District. His prep career, in that case, is over. Having seen some of the lower seeds in the District bracket, this is a bit disturbing.

Wonder the last time, if ever, there's been a spread that big in a Big East game.

No mention of Josh Hart in the top 35. I really hope he's a first-rounder this year or next, but I also hope he doesn't leave this year if he doesn't get that guarantee.
