Goofy Sport, Bruhs

End of Falcons-49ers game. Atl down 4 with 2:56 left. 4th down at the SF 2 yard line. Atlanta...kicks a FG??

Atl had 2 timeouts and the 2 min warning. Which basically means 1 first down by SF, and they lose. What's the upside to not going for it at the 2 yard line? If you dont get it...they're at their own 2 and have a playbook shrunken down 80% and likely punt it back to you inside their own territory. Kicking off you still need to force a 3 and out and then drive most of the field for a FG, but they'll have the whole field to work with as they wont be pinned back.

I've seen some dumb play calls but this might be the dumbest one ever. Atl has now lost to the Bucs at home, and to Blaine Gabbert in back to back weeks. They did escape with a 3pt win against the Almighty Mettenbooger the week before. This team is fading fast.

Goofy sport, bros. By the way let's crown New England. Everyone else stinks.

Pumped and Torn.....

Next Friday the Cats tip it up,really excited to see the team play!..but St. Marys in the State quarterfinals in football against an old nemesis at the same time.
I really want to go to football game to watch all the kids I work with play...Guess I'll tape Cats and check my phone, but I'm so ADD about Cats, that I'll miss half the football game looking at Cats score...Nice problem to have.
Also,The Lions are now looking for a new President down to new ball boys....please feel free to apply, can't be worse than what we've had since the Ford family bought in 1958!...we now have a 91 year old woman running the team.

Again ...

I won't beat a dead horse ... but again after a turnover, the Def gives the ball to the Off inside the 40 and on a 3rd and 12 instead of getting six or seven we go to the end zone and leave an unmanageable 4th and 12 and a missed 45 yard FG. A short yardage play would have left a manageable 4th or a more makeable FG.

I give up on this OC. Evidently not capable of change or learning from history. Hopefully the players (Off and Def) overcome him today and the next two weeks.

Hey VUFan 35

We all know you are not a VU fan. We also know you are a real (place your own description)
One can never compare CAA with AAC without giving CAA those 22 additional scholarships.
Check this out. When Temple had to rally late to beat East Carolina, the Philly media designated them a GREAT team. Last Sat EC traveled to VU foe UConn and was handed a 31-13 ass kicking. VU gave UConn a tough game before losing 20-15. Of course Cats had JR at QB.

Just Watched St. John's Get Their Doors Blown Off By A D2 Team........

Went to the game at Carnesecca tonight, my buddy is an assistant at St. Thomas Aquinas but I am a college hoops junkie and would have gone regardless. Final score I believe was 90-58, when I walked into the gym STAC was up 22-6, it was ugly for the Johnnies from start to finish, apparently the SJU cheerleaders dropped a cheerleader at the beginning of the game as well.

First off, same ol' St. John's, their fans have gotten so used to it it doesn't even strike them as odd anymore, but obviously you have kids ineligible. Lovett and Yakwe, both freshmen, I don't think Lebron could have helped them tonight, but again, same ol' St. John's, ineligible kids right off the bat. This kinda nonsense has been going on at St. John's for DECADES.

Secondly, more people in the stands were showing emotion than Mullin was. At first I described him as cool, calm and collected, by the end of the game I was wondering if he was awake. The only St. John's coach to show any emotion was Slice, but even in the 2nd half he looked half asleep. My buddy who I was with, and who follows St. John's the way we follow Villanova, brought up the fact Mullin was not doing any in game coaching, not at all, and it made me grateful for Jay and his "teaching moments." Even my buddy's girlfriend, who knows as much about basketball as I do about building a spaceship, was saying why is he just sitting there, and why does he have his legs stretched out on the court half the game. I am sure once the season begins Mullin will look more lively, but as a coach, he looked lost and like he had already given up hope.

PS - Mullin needs to get either longer pants or longer socks because I was staring at his pasty white Irish legs half the game.

Third, St. John's players who seemed OK, or at least seemed like they have played the game of basketball before, were Mussini, the Italian PG, Christian Jones, who has lost a lot of weight, and Malik Ellison. Regardless, our guys would eat these guys' lunch for them. My buddy was saying Lavin, as much as you want to rip the guy, had these guys hustle a lot more than Mullin did.

Conclusion: Gotta give Mullin time, he was dealt a hard hand to play when you lose your Top 6 guys. I think they are eventually gonna be OK, but it is going to take 3 or 4 years to see progress. Regardless, Mullin, we love ya buddy, I know you haven't coached before, but at least pretend to play the part.

Jay will need to call the dogs (or should I say cats) off EARLY on SJU this year or else it will make last year's blood bath in Philadelphia look like a close game.

I am rooting for Mullin and St. John's but man oh man, they got a lot of work to do. I know it was an exhibition, but I know what I saw, and it was not good.

USC Football / Mark Jackson

http://espn.go.com/college-football...ow-usc-hopes-recapturing-glory-failed-trojans

Chapter 6 of this very detailed story goes into how our new AD, through his close relationship with Pete Carroll, was very influential in USC's controversial choice of Steve Sarkisian as FB coach. Surprising that Pat Haden would lean on Carroll's opinion, after they were placed on probation because of the Reggie Bush stuff.

Keyshawn Johnson, a former Trojans wide receiver who remains close to the program, says Haden "didn't get his hands greasy" with his search. More troubling -- according to Riki Ellison and multiple other sources -- the AD was swayed most of all by then-senior associate athletic director Mark Jackson, who was the ultimate Carroll confidant.

Jackson, a Boston native, was an assistant under Carroll in the late '90s with the Patriots and had for years been Carroll's eyes and ears in the Trojans locker room. "He was Pete Carroll's stool pigeon," says Ellison, whose son Rhett was a tight end for USC from 2008 to 2011. "Mark Jackson was Pete's mouth and intelligence inside USC football." But now Jackson had Haden's ear, and sources say he took complete advantage of it.

Jackson campaigned right away for Sarkisian's hire and urged Haden to use Carroll as a character reference. At the time, Carroll was still close with Sark, still texting him several times a week. So when Haden contacted Carroll, the coach recommended his protégé for the job. According to a source, Jackson then was part of Haden's inner circle during the selection process, along with senior associate athletic directors J.K. McKay and Steve Lopes.

Jackson, who is now the athletic director at Villanova, did not return phone messages asking for comment. But he is the one who sources say laid the groundwork for the Sarkisian hire. On the surface, besides the role of the search committee, the university had vetted Sarkisian simply by calling Sark's mentor, Carroll.

"Why even ask Pete Carroll, the same person who helped get us on NCAA probation?" Ellison says. "Come on. Sark and Lane Kiffin are rich, entitled, blue-blood kids. They were Pete Carroll's favorites. The reason both of them ran this program is because of Pete Carroll."
