New TV Show?

Anything good coming out this fall? The wife and I have been struggling to find new shows to watch since Breaking Bad and Mad Men ended. Our current lineup is pretty weak, and we are not following anything currently except House of Cards, which always ends up just being a weekend-long binge and then waiting many months for the next season to come out.

We tried to get into The Americans, but gave up halfway through the first season because it was terrible. I understand it got a lot better, but by then it was too late for us. We also took a crack at American Horror Story, but it was too weird. If I have to watch one more episode of Chopped, I'm going to lose it.

Season Predictions and Outlook

With Hoops Mania behind us, and the first game (albeit an exhibition one) one week from Sunday, let's hear some predictions:

1) Starting five?

2) Who leads this team in scoring?

3) Biggest concern(s) for this year's team (not for the future)?

4) Brunson impact? Does he have a big year, or does he defer to Arch/Booth for a year before it becomes his team?

5) (a) Who is Nova's biggest threat to compete with them for the Big East title? (b) Who is the Big East's sleeper?

6) Big East record? Overall record?

7) How far does this team go in the NCAA tournament? I'm assuming an NCAA bid - if anyone wants to disagree with that, feel free, but you better give a great argument for why

8) Arch/Chef graduate in May (along with two walkons). Does anyone else leave the team early, for the pros or by transfer? Who and why?

Insert any other questions. Fire at will.

One last chance season ticket for sale...

After 10 years I got the email today… I have been offered a pair of season tickets and am officially off the waiting list! I am strongly considering calling the ticket office and asking for just 1 ticket, does anyone know if they allow this/are there any subscribers who just have a single season ticket? I know I know, I should have married someone who is as big a fan as me…

Once you only have 1 season ticket I’m assuming you will have only 1 ticket forever. So before I call the office and refuse one of the tickets, I wanted to see if there were any other people on the waiting list or not, who want to go in with me and buy the other ticket? I don’t know the seat location other than “Upper North”, unfortunately I don’t expect them to give me row 3 for just coming off the list. I would be willing to trade some games if you like, I take both for team x, and you take both for team y, can totally help you transfer tickets online to someone else, you can use your ticket however you wish that is your call.

If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP, email me at ak3883 at gmail.

Best guess at minutes per game

In light of the recent open practice and some of the comments on that thread, I thought it would be fun to start another thread on everyone's best guess on minutes played. This is for fun only. Its best guesses. This will all change daily/weekly, so relax and have some fun.

Arch: 27-32 minutes
Booth: 24-29 minutes
Brunson: 25-30 minutes
Donte: 8-13 minutes
Hart: 28-33 minutes
Bridges: 5-10 minutes
Jenkins: 23-28 minutes
Reynolds: 10-15 minutes
Ochefu: 25-30 minutes

Delaney Update

I spoke with someone close to the Delaney situation.
His surgery was deemed fully successful. The labrum is good to go and after rehab it is expected he will feel like he has a brand new hip.
He has been playing through some pain for the past 3 to 4 years and the thought was to get the surgery, make things right and use the year to get back to 100%.
There was also a micro-tear of a ligament that was repaired to relieve him of what had been some "bone-on-bone" type pain.
Delaney is on crutches now and is not able to do any "load bearing" activity / exercise. But he has already been back on a bike and Jeff Pierce is guiding him through the rehab.
Given all this - it was explained to me that the plan now is to redshirt him so that he gets four full seasons to play.
He is in the Villanova business school.
Report I got is that he absolutely loves it at Villanova!
I updated the depth chart to reflect that he will from a scholarship/eligibility perspective now essentially be part of the 2016 class with Spellman and Painter - that would appear to be the biggest class Coach Wright will have had.

Just stating the obvious....,,

Barring a 4 game miracle the nail was put into the coffin for Villanova football playoff hopes at Towson last night.

Offense gained 400+ yards, but impossible to overcome 2 pick 6 interceptions.

I know many think Coach Talley shouldn't buy green bananas, but it's time to start mixing in freshmen like Forbes at RB & sophomores to get them some game experience. I'd like to see Gudzak play a more significant role as he runs hard & is productive.

The coaching staff needs to recruit speed at the wide out position. Rarely does this group get separation from the defense with the exception of Gulyas. McClenton will be a star in the slot the next 3 years. He has the speed needed.

May need to re-examine the offense & play more with a big pass catching TE & lineup with a 2 back look to run the ball from time to time.

The defense for the most part has been good, but unfortunately it needs to be great to win games this season.

We'll need to replace these seniors next season:
Offense:
Gulyas WR
Wallace OG
Tunnell TE
Wells Slot
Underwood RB

Defense:
Paris DE
Cherry LB
Lucas LB -former starter

A lot coming back. Hopefully they can patch the holes and come back from what is nothing else, but a very very disappointing season on the Main Line.

Non-Conference Games of Note for the Big East

This doesn't capture the full slate of early season tourney match-ups, and includes the KenPom Rankings:

Providence has from what I can see a horrible non-conference schedule, though I don't know if they are going to face anyone big in a tourney match-up. GTown, Xavier and Butler all have some big match-ups that will really impact our conference SOS and perception.

Pangos All-East Frosh/Soph Camp

VUSports took in some action at the Pangos All-East Camp this weekend.
I updated the depth chart with a few new 2018s and 2019s that were intriguing.
An article should be up later today/tonight with some news/notes from the camp.

It is obviously real early for these classes so there were a lot of players "mushed" together from a talent perspective that didn't stand out so much.

There were even some 2020 kids in the mix like Lynn Greer III - whose father played at Temple - he plays at Marlton Middle School.

Tim Delaney's younger brother, Andrew also played in the event - he is a 6'2" guard in the Class of 2019.

Players like Cole Anthony, Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine and some other NY area players were not in action today as they were playing in an event in NY City.

The best player I saw today, that I was unaware of previously, was Precious Achiuwa of Our Savior of Lutheran (Bronx, NY). He is 6'7", long and skilled for a Class of 2019 player. I spoke with a recruitnik who is great at evaluating not just talent but guys who know how to play and he said he played on the same team with Scottie Lewis on Saturday and was just as impressive. He was knocking down pull-up jumpers off the dribble, draining treys, blocking shots ... total package here. Cats should touch base with this young'n asap.
