tipper for SteveT ...

SteveT,
Please make your way out to St. Vincent Pallotti, MD and give us your take on Karim Coulibaly, 6-7, Class of 2019. Heard him compared to Derrick Coleman and Lamar Odom.
Thanks!

PS: #1 Junior in MD according to a recruitnik I spoke with tonight is Anthony Longpre (up to 6-9). He may have forgotten about D.J. Harvey when he said this.

PS2: Have you seen 2018 Koran Moore of St. Frances? - a Center

I must be missing something

It is hard for me to understand why people think this team will be as good as last year's or even the year before, teams. While I agree that we have the potential to be a better offensive and 3 point shooting team, we will in all likelihood not be as good defensively and without question we will not be as good at rebounding the basketball. This board has never appreciated what JVP brought to the table. He was the strongest player in the league, with a warrior's mentality, who always seem to get the tough baskets and a very high basketball IQ, who completely bought into Jay's team first mantra. Very unusual for a McDonalds All American. He created space underneath, was an enforcer and provided protection for Daniel. In addition, Hilliard, Ennis and JVP were all high level defenders, and while I love our new guys, I don't see any stud defensive replacements on the horizon. A huge part of our success the last 2 years has been defense and rebounding, and it looks like we have a long way to go to return to that elite defensive level. I also think Daniel will have a harder time staying out of foul trouble this year. Last year he had Ennis and Hilliard playing big time perimeter defense to keep players out of the paint. He may not have that luxury this year. Also, JVP created space and was such a strong rebounder, that we didn't give up a lot of offensive rebounds. With JVP gone I suspect that we will be more vulnerable to the offensive rebound, which will put a ton of pressure on Big Dan. So, while I expect us to be good, exciting and fun to watch, I think 30 wins is a bit ambitious.

OT: Let's Go Mets

In Game 1 of the Fall Classic tonight, Matt Harvey takes the hill versus the Royals' Edinson Volquez. What the Mets are doing right now could be the beginning of a special run for that franchise. I just don't see the Royals having enough pitching to take four games against the likes of deGrom, Harvey, and Syndegaard. Sometimes, a team just has an unstoppable mojo, when all the pieces of the puzzle just happen to fit together at the exact right time. The Mets' young arms have been extraordinary, as the running storyline next to the sudden slugger Dan Murphy.

It's been an amazing build-job by veteran GM Sandy Alderson. His hands were tied by the Wilpon's unwillingness to spend major money for 4 1/2 years, but he seized upon a unique opportunity to make improvements, at the trade deadline in July. He was remarkably visionary in pushing in all his chips at the right time, nailing down multiple trades that greatly improved the team's hitting.

The Royals have big-game experience, and are going to be tough to beat, but I think it's going to be Mets in 6.

Bills vs. Jags

Cap tip to the NFL. From a business perspective, these guys don't miss a trick. We're going to take the least attractive game with two of the least least attractive home markets/franchises, send them to London and then only provide it online with no other games to compete against. Essentially they are pushing the limits to determine how far consumers will go to consume any NFL football. It's a live experiment and absolutely brilliant. I can see them sitting around Park Ave. saying, "we can sell out London, make a bunch of money on a terrible game and push the limits to see what our sheep will consume". Brilliant. I am fascinated by how large and all powerful the NFL has become. They are well past the giving a crap stage and now into openly gauging how far they can push the boundaries of consumption. Hoops Mania Feedback

Just wondering if there has been any feedback or comments from or about potential recruits regarding their Hoops Mania experiences----SteveT posted about "Sticks" and how much he enjoyed it but other than that I havent seen anything else posted about it, but maybe I just missed seeing those comments. Usually there is much more Hoops Mania discussion and sometimes even a video or two is available a few days after the event but this year I've seen very little about it so far, but maybe some of that is coming soon.

Receivers Take A Lot Of Heat,But

It is not always their fault. In W&M game, twice a receiver was a full step behind the defender and Zach under threw the ball. Saturday night on at least two plays Zach bounced the ball to an open receiver. The play has the receiver running a post, then cutting it off and heading toward sideline about nine yards down field. Twice receiver was open and QB bounced the pass
Also, posters never mention Mike Burke, a tough kid with good hands. Senior with experience. Has not played a snap because of injury. Very active on sidelines . Wears a head set. Helps out. Cats miss him in his role as a receiver. I talked to him at one of our home games. Expects to come back next season.
