Robby Carmody (2018)

Here is a name for some of us to keep track of in the coming years, Robby Carmody from Moon Township, PA. Obviously, he has a long way to go in his development as a player and in the recruting process, but I wouldn't mind if Jay and staff took a look at Robby in the coming months and years, I think he will turn out to be a pretty good player. He is about six foot three and is a very good athelte, dunks very easily. Pretty good shooter, passer, and ball handler as well I think he is a very solid player for being so young. He has already been offered by Navy and Pursue, I expect the offer list to climb in the coming years.

UCONN edges Cats 20-15. Underwood injury critical

Cats leading 9-6 at half in a typical mistake prone first game. Gary Underwood Nova's second best offensive player incurs chest injury making a block. When this was announced at half I thought that would tip the balance UCONN's way. Underwood is the Matt Szczur of this team and Cats will need him, Robertson looked a little rusty passing. Should have an easier time at 1-AA level.

Game thoughts

A couple positives-Oline did a good job especially with 2 or 3 new starters, kick offs were strong, punts seemed solid, John picked up his play as the game went on, secondary only had 1 serious breakdown - quite a few new folks back there, running game was good early till the injury to underwood.

Going forward I think we will be fine.

The other side-missed FG, failure to make the 4th and inches, too much clock time lost in 4th qtr scoring drive.

Any injury report info? Underwood? Anyone else?

Thanks Tom

OT?: The importance of this week's game with Uconn

Like Villanova, Uconn is a basketball first school. I am under the impression that many within the Uconn family are not happy with the sacrifices the basketball program may utilmately make for their football program.

I would like to see Uconn back in the Big East. I think it would enhance the chances of the Big East making it long term.

Beating Uconn this week in football will fuel the flames for those Huskies who want Basketball to rule. Just think where we would be if we upgraded in football and we're now stuck in the AAC?

I am flying to Hartford this week from Texas not just because we have a very good football team but also because I think this game may influence the basketball powers at Uconn to take a stronger stand.

I hope as many of you that can will join us for a fun evening in Hartford.

OT LSalle LaysOff 23 in Wake of $12M Shortfall

On the same day that Nova was announcing the major hire of an AD, this article appeared on the front page of the Philly Inquirer. La Salle is down135 students (16%) from 2014. Projected total enrollment is 3,164. The layoffs do not include any faculty. LaSalle ,last spring hired their first ever female president Colleen Hanycz. Many small, private universities are competing for fewer applicants.( St. Joe has 1,188 Frosh down about 75 students from last year.)

OT: Shout out to USMC

For those who know him USMC is an incredible person. A while back he set me a gift card for my son and we ordered him a Nova #1 hoops jersey. I put it on him today, he tells me it's a football jersey, he's 3 and knows everything. Three different people commented on it today. All 3 people said they loved that Villanova jersey, which my wife responded every time "its our hope he goes there someday". Each time someone commented it I thought of Sean and how great a person he is. Thank you once again.
