Was Mitt Romney vilified for being successful or for calling half of america (incl. veterans and seniors) evil freeloaders?

This isn't about Mitt.

We are discussing how Hillary is a slimeball and the probability that she will be indicted.

I don't recall Mitt ever claiming that he was "dead broke," either.

Both. But I will counter your question with this - was he wrong? Plus, it wasn't half - it was only 47%.
He was wrong. It's 43% that don't pay federal income taxes, though they pay other forms of taxes. And he said that those people are lost causes. They eschew personal responsibility and demand handouts. It was as poisonous a statement as you could make in a campaign. A true Dom Cheek moment.

.....and he wears funny underpants.

Not exactly correct.

He said that they were a lost cause in terms of potentially voting for him. He had absolutely no chance of getting any of those votes, which was a true statement.

Of course it bit him in the ass because he was speaking at a private fundraising event and did not expect to be secretly videotaped.

There is nothing wrong with HRC making a few hundred G's to speak at Goldman. After all, we're not communists. It's just makes he new found anti-Wall Street rhetoric unbelievable. It's part of what is hurting her campaign. People don't like a phony. It's why a guy like Trump makes his wealth into a plus while people like Romney and Clinton look like hypocrites, Just own it and people don't care as much. Also, HRC is getting drilled with Millennials. She has a generational problem because she comes off as utterly fake and dishonest. Which she is.

No, they love Trump because he says what he means. That's the appeal. Heck, he's somehow convinced evangelicals to vote for him. Cap Tip. Somewhere Ted Cruz is now saying the same thing as Jeb Bush, "how am I losing to this guy".

Cracks me up that Republicans believe that President-Elect Trump attends mass every Sunday.

There hasn't been a single vote cast yet.

No, he's Trump. He defies all the stereo-types because he's not a politician. It's part of the genius of his campaign. Similar to how people hate the rich people but he's the richest guy running and made that a strength. Populism conquers all. It's why no one cares if he's pro-life, pro choice etc....he just made a joke about shooting people and got away with it at a time you can't get away with anything. Remarkable isn't it? I can't believe it either.

Wait? I thought lack of politician-ness was a knock on OBAMA. I'm getting dizzy from these constantly moving goalposts.
No, you are confused. Obama is a career politician with only real world experience being a community organizer. Trump has built empires baby. You really can't follow this stuff.

Yeah he's just a "community organizer", no reason to cite his experience as Harvard law review president, constituional law scholar and civil rights attorney....

I was on the fence but John Rocker's endorsement has brought me over to team Trump.

“I wish someone, excuse the frankness here, would have the sack, would have the backbone to make unpopular comments, and when folks come out — mainly media, special interest groups, factions, things like that — and just start hammering them and demanding apologies… I’ve always wanted to see the person that’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ve made these comments, these are my beliefs, and you know what, if you don’t like it stick it. I’m not apologizing, I’m not changing,” Rocker told TheDC. “I think that is something that millions and millions of Americans have been waiting for probably a decade or two to hear something. Maybe even since Reagan.”

Hillary Clinton's latest attempt to explain away her comment that she and Bill Clinton were "dead broke" when they left the White House has prompted her to possibly stumble into another verbal thicket, saying that they are not "truly well off."

In an interview with the Guardian published Sunday, Hillary Clinton made a third attempt to tamp down the "dead broke" comment, made earlier this month to ABC's Diane Sawyer. While defending the millions of dollars she and the ex-president have earned giving paid speeches and writing books, she insisted they are not "truly well off" like other wealthy people they know, fueling criticism that the potential presidential candidate does not relate to ordinary people.

None of that is private sector experience.

ADP,

Honest question about HRC. If you are so certain that she's broken the law -- and so is the FBI -- why haven't there been any charges? Is it because the right people are paid off to wait for her to win the nomination and then do it? I'm just having trouble figuring out why if it's so cut and dry, why it hasn't happened.

Thank you guys. I had nothing to do for the last hour.

I will thank you with a picture of jmerc eating at the movies.

I'm not sure what the point of argument about "dead broke" is other than covering her campaign is boring as sh*t.

The point is that Mitt never tried to pretend that he wasn't wealthy, and that Hillary's lame attempts to do so exposed her as the phony and hypocrite that she is.

The FBI expanded the investigation. You don't recommend a charge against the leading Presidential candidate on one side and the former Sec. of State unless you've got her nailed beyond any doubt. You think the Obama Justice Department is going to go after their own frontrunner unless evidence is over-whelming and without question? C'mon, it's the Clinton's. They will destroy you if you miss.

So they've had hundreds (more likely, thousands) of people working on this for years, and they don't have concrete evidence yet? I thought having those emails on her unsecure network was the violation. They allegedly found that, what are they waiting for? Either they have it or they don't. If they don't have it, she's not guilty and we should't have to hear about every non-relevant new development.

No, they just opened the investigation and expanded it to include the Foundation. You're showing your bias. There is an open investigation and it's expanded. Those are the facts.

What fascinates me is that Obama is allowing his Justice Department to go after her.

I am sure that he is enjoying every minute of this and he would have loved it if Uncle Joe threw his hat in the ring. To say that he and the Clintons despise each other is an understatement. But I'm sure that they'll play nice at the convention.

No biases here, I'm torn between Trump and Sanders. I just want answer as to why she's not in jail if she broke the law and it's so obvious to everyone (but me).
