Who do you have winning it all?

AL Wild Card

Yankees over Astros - Astros happy to be in, Yankees have the experience advantage and the better bullpen. Keuchel is not as effective on the road.

ALDS

Yankees over Royals in 5 - Cueto lays an egg and goes 0-2 in the series.

Blue Jays over Rangers in 4 - too much thunder

ALCS

Blue Jays over Yankees in 5 - too much thunder

NL Wild Card

Cubs over Pirates - Arrieta is having a magical season.

NLDS

Cubs over Cardinals in 4

Dodgers over Mets in 3 - Mets will be my 2016 WS favorite

NLCS

Dodgers over Cubs in 7 - Kershaw/Greinke win all 4 games

WS

Dodgers over Blue Jays in 7 - Kershaw wins 3 games on his way to winning the MVP. Cements his case for a 1st ballot HOF already.

Pirates and Stros in WC
Cards and Dodgers
Cards

KC
Toronto

Toronto

Cards win again

Can't see Dodgers going anywhere. Their offense does the same shit every year in the playoffs which is stop hitting. Kershaw also looks very ordinary once October hits.

Mets vs Cards in NLCS with Cards winning. Wainwright strikes out Cespedes looking in game 7.

Royals-Jays in ALCS with Jays winning

Cards beat Jays in 6 in WS.

AL Wild Card

Yankees over Astros

ALDS

Royals over Yanks in 5

Blue Jays over Rangers in 4

ALCS

Blue Jays over Royals in 6

NL Wild Card

Pirates over Cubs - See this as a really close game, maybe 2-1 or 3-2. Pirates finally get to Arrieta and Cole comes up big. Somebody random with a big hit, Pedro Alvarez/Todd Walker type.

NLDS

Pirates over Cardinals in 5

Dodgers over Mets in 5

NLCS

Dodgers over Pirates in 6

WS

Dodgers over Blue Jays in 7

Wild Card:
Astros over Yankees
Cubs over Pirates

ALDS:
Royals over Astros
Rangers over Blue Jays

NLDS:
Mets over Dodgers
Cubs over Cardinals

ALCS:
Rangers over Royals

NLCS:
Cubs over Mets

World Series:
Cubs over Rangers

It's a crap shoot--why even try to predict it?

MLB has to be really hoping for the Cardinals to go out early. I can't stand them, generally think most people outside of St. Louis are sick of them, and they don't have the big names that other teams in the field do. But at the same time they're not hated enough that people want to watch in hopes they lose (a la NYY for instance). I just don't like to watch them. A lot of this was exemplified by Pujols (fraud) with many of the prior recent teams. Plus small market.

Second OMYAC's comments on Dodgers and Kershaw. Other guys, especially pitchers, dial it up a couple notches in October, he never has. And if they somehow break through and make the WS, could see them being dismissed quickly there. Still, outside of Kershaw a lot of turnover from past failures maybe it's different this time but doesn't feel that way with him still being the anchor of the staff.

No love for Cole Hamels? The guy that delivered a World Series for baseball's most pathetic franchise.

No love for Cole Hamels? The guy that delivered a World Series for baseball's most pathetic franchise.
I will obviously always be a Hamels fan, 2008 was his best moments but I thought last year was his best season overall. He was on a terrible team and just put his head down and pitched. Consistently going 7+ innings with only 1 or 2 R 8+ K and maybe 1 BB. It was the first time in his career I thought he finally was getting that bulldog mentality of guys like Halladay, Lee etc. Just go out there and only control what you can control and keep your team in games. So often we were used to see him blow up after a missed call or play in the field. But to be honest, I was really turned off over his comments the past year + about wanting to play for a winning team. In no way was a dick like Papelbon, but it still bothered me, almost like he thought he was entitled to win. When did Halladay ever complain about being on a Blue Jays team that never sniffed the playoffs? I thought Hamels was a poor teammate in that regard. I know the front office started this by saying we don't expect to compete for a couple years - which I hated. Everyone knows this, no need to blast it out and basically let the guys on the team now that this year and possibly more was going to be an absolute waste. Everyone plays to win the World Series, I understand they are in rebuilding mode but I just don't like the tone and attitude it sets when its coming down from the top that we are going to be terrible. In this regards I agree with Papelbon's statements that he clarified about the Phillies not wanting to win. I know the Hamels trade was a nice move for the team as they got some younger guys who could turn into players. But I thought Hamels still has a couple more years in him and could have been the anchor in the rotation at what would be a good price compared to what starters are getting now. Who knows, maybe in 2 years he could have been the ace on a young team making a run?

So yes, I will always be a Hamels fan and he has pitched well enough for the Rangers. But I will not be rooting for him.

The main thing about Hamels that will always bother me is his 2009 bunched panties phase in the postseason. Was not a good time for that, if we get anything close to the 2008 Hamels, Phils win back to back. Instead, they had him on the mound with a 4-0 lead in Game 3 at home, and he crapped the bed. Then afterwards he had the "I just want the season to be over" comment. It's the f---in World Series!

I'll chalk it up to a tired arm perhaps, definitely still root for the guy, without his lights out performances in 2008 Phillies wouldn't have had anything close to an Ace and things could have been different.

And if your aunt had a penis he would be your uncle.

Stunning to see the road team win the first one-game playoff. Truly stunning stuff.

Goofy sport.

Why even have these one game playoffs? Arbitrary and goofy.

Agree. Ample room for 3 game set, M-W, and almost no disruption to the remaining postseason schedule. Travel could suck but any team in that position would take it, and 2-3 times a year rain out dates or whatever cause the same bad travel scenarios. 162 games for a 1 game crap shoot not so good. Not every team gets to be in a division with a chronic underperformer at the presumed top. See Cubs, Pirates.

There is not ample time for a 3 game set. MLB has to hold the Monday after the regular season in the event there is a tie-breaker. You cannot reasonably ask teams to play Tues-Thurs with travel and then turn around and travel again on Friday for LDS.

I'd rather see a teams' aces duke it out for 1 game than have to watch their #3's battle in game 3 of the wild card play in series. Also it would likely take out a team's top 2 starters for the first 2 games of the DS, which is a huge disadvantage in a best-of-5. Last year, the one game play-in made no difference as Royals would have been in anyways and Giants-Pirates would have had to play a 1 game tiebreaker.

Probably the best way to do a 3 game set would be a 1-2 format.

I personally love the 1 game format, just so much pressure as a fan. As the Phillies and Sox have sucked this year, I'll probably quadruple my entire baseball watching in the next 5 days than in the prior 6 months.

Thought the Yankees were lucky to be in that game last night as the Astros hit a ton of hard hit balls off of tanaka that were outs. I was only rooting for A-Roid to do something last night (but still rooting for the Astros). He had his shot...

Most looking forward to tonight's game, and then friday, which is MLBs version of opening weekend of the NCAA

Penalize wildcard teams for not winning the division. They are lucky to even have a spot, let them duke it out.

Here's a better penalty - wildcard teams don't make the playoffs.

Would baseball playoffs be better if they went with more of a college world series format? Top two teams in each division play a three game series to qualify. Then a double elimination tournament.

So you're suggesting adding 2 wild card teams to the playoffs.

It does suck that the 2nd and 3rd best teams (win totals) have to play a one game playoff to play the best team, while the dodgers and mets get to square off against each other.

The best way to go is the way they do it now. Logistically speaking there really isn't another good option. Monday has to be held. That leaves Tues-Thurs. You're not doing a 3 game set in those three days, especially if you had a team in a play-in game on Monday. The schedule simply doesn't enable another realistic scenario without completely screwing the wildcard teams. The one game scenario is awesome. It rewards the division winners but doesn't blow out the wildcards. Last year we had two wildcards in the World Series. You want that possibility because at the end of the season those two teams were playing great baseball. Take emotion out of it and just look at the calendar.

If MLB expands to 32 teams, they can just go with 4 divisions with four teams each. Each division winner makes the playoff.

I'm fine with one wild card team. The two wild card game system stinks. This all started a few years back when there was a handful of dramatic one game playoffs to determine the wild card or some divisional race.

Everyone agrees that it is good drama for a whole season to come down to one game. I'm fine with a one game playoff to determine a division winner. This year is just an unusual year in the sense that the cubs and pirates have 97 and 98 wins, respectively. Normally you would expect a wild card team to have far fewer wins than that.

Why was there a woman doing color commentary for the game tonight?
Brutal. She added nothing to the broadcast. Was it just me or did Shulman and Kruk basically ignore here all game. She would chime in with something pointless and then it was just silence.
