Three Nova Recruits Help Penna Win Big 33 Game

RB Jarrett McClenton, linemen Louis Csaszar and Bryan White helped Pa win. The game pits Penna stars against Maryland stars. The game was rain shortened. Csaszar played both center and guard. White played d line. White will join his brother at Nova. Their dad played at Nova for Coach T. White and Csaszar will be roommates at Nova.
I think three Big 33 players headed to Nova is the most Cats ever had. Again I praise the staff for great recruiting, as always.

Shoulder pain diagnosis

Any help would be appreciated.

I have pain in my left shoulder - I can't really take it past 90 degrees with my arm at my side without moderate pain. With my arm in front of me I can go up, but there is still a little bit of pain. If I bend my arm at the elbow and try to push up the pain is severe (like the motion of doing an overhead press).

I vaguely remember my arm being sore earlier in the week but then on Saturday I was tubing down the shore and ended up going underwater. I held onto the tube with my left arm and was probably dragged a little bit before the boat stopped, so I am thinking that is the culprit of the pain.

I have been taking the Costco brand of Tylenol (Acetaminophen) for the pain - 2 this morning and then I had some ibuprofen at my desk and just took 2 of those. That helped with the pain.

I plan on icing it tonight for 20 minutes at a time. Is there anything else I should be doing besides obviously resting it?

Does this sound like a possible torn rotator cuff? Based on my internet research that the best I can come up with.

Part Three - Looking Back...2013 - 2014 Season

The focus in the offseason was entirely on this newly created conference - the new Big East. A conference comprised of almost entirely private, Catholic institutions of higher learning (Butler the lone exception), like-minded in philosophy and core values, a non-football conference with basketball being the cash crop on campus. Jay was skeptical but later found out that this appealed to a lot of recruits. The program was stabilizing with no transfers out and Dylan Ennis becoming eligible.
Jay would have 10 scholarship players - 2 Seniors (Bell and Chennault), 2 Juniors (Pinkston and Hilliard), 3 Sophomores (Arcidiacono, Ochefu and Ennis, a redshirt soph) and 3 Freshmen (Hart, Jenkins and Reynolds).
The team would win the regular season Big East Crown (16-2) and post the best regular season record 28-3 (losing only to Syracuse and Creighton twice) in the program's history. However, they lost a one seed in the NCAA Tournament with an opening loss to Seton Hall in the Big East Conference Tournament, 64-63. Selected as a 2 seed, the Cats played 15 seed Milwaukee and won, 73-53. However, the Cats would lose in the next round to the Tournament's eventual champion - 7 seed UConn, 77-65 and finish the year at 29-5.
Bell - 34g - 29.5mpg - 14.4ppg - 37%3
Hilliard - 34g - 29.1mpg - 14.3ppg - 41%3
Pinkston - 34g - 27.1mpg - 14.1ppg
Arcidiacono - 34g - 31.1mpg - 9.9ppg - 34%3
Hart - 34g - 21.4mpg - 7.8ppg - 31%3
Ochefu - 34g - 21.7mpg - 5.7ppg
Ennis - 30g - 16.2mpg - 5.1ppg - 30%3
Jenkins - 34g - 11.7mpg - 4.1ppg - 37%3
Chennault - 34g - 14.3mpg - 2.7ppg - 0%3
Henry Lowe - 8g - 1.4mpg - 0.6ppg
Reynolds - 21g - 3.1mpg - 0.3ppg
Nick McMahon - 11g - 2.4mpg - 0.2ppg
Pat Farrel - 8g - 1.5mpg - 0.1ppg
Again all starters got over 20mpg with Josh Hart, the best 6th man since Kyle Lowry, also getting starter's minutes (plus 20). Ryan Arcidiacono was the only one to get plus 30mpg for the second consecutive season. Jay's rotation went 9 deep. Team chemistry was instrumental in the success of this team - the likes of which hadn't been around since their Final Four march in 2008-2009. The only player that didn't seem to totally "buy-in" and seemed to play for himself that year (this is a pesonal opinion) was Dylan Ennis. Daniel Ochefu was voted most improved in the conference and James Bell was selected to the First Team All-Big East. Since Bell was graduating, let's look at his 4 year progression.
Frosh - 9.1mpg - 2.4ppg - 32%3
Soph - 23mpg - 7.0ppg - 36%3
Junior - 28.5mpg - 8.6ppg - 36%3
Senior - 29.5mpg - 14.4ppg - 37%3
Didn't forget you Tony Chennault. You played your role perfectly that year and provided real leadership and were truly inspirational with the death of your mother - may she rest in Peace knowing that she raised a great kid and hero for all of us.

Insomnia

Now that medical questions have been popping up....

Anyone on here suffer from insomnia? I have no problem falling asleep but I have a big issue with waking up in the middle of the night and being wide awake for 2-3 hours. A lot of times I just get up and work out or send work emails. I partially attribute it to my anxiety medication - which is almost counter productive as my anxiety goes through the roof while laying there in bed and being tired the next day doesn't help.

For those that have the same or similar issue - what do you do? Do you get out of bed?

Shocker: Federal financial aid drives up tuition costs

I knew that the Bennett Hypothesis was probably right, but I would have never guessed that it would be this pronounced.

The researchers find specifically that a dollar of added Pell Grants or an added dollar of subsidized direct loans translate to 55 cents and 65 cents in higher tuition, respectively.

The study also found that the effect was most pronounced on the most expensive institutions.

Part Two - Looking Back...2012-2013 Season

Before school started in August of 2012, the offseason saw Maalik Wayns leave for the NBA, Dominic Cheek did not return to the Mainline, Ty Johnson and Markus Kennedy all leave the program. Jay would start the new season with only one legitimate ballhandler - an incoming freshman - Ryan Arcidiacono, who didn't even play his senior year of high school due to back surgery. Would he even be able to play? For backup measures Jay accepted two transfers - Tony Chennault, a point guard from Neuman-Goretti in Philly, who did his first two years of college ball in the ACC at Wake Forest. Chennault would be granted a waiver to play immediately without sitting out a year since his mother was dying of cancer. The other transfer was Dylan Ennis, who had just completed his freshman year at Rice but would have to sit the year out.
Since Jay's offense was now changing from his guards breaking down the defense and dribble-drive to the hoop to more of a perimeter attack, he added another late recruit to solve his shooting woes by signing Mislav Brzoja.
Thus, Jay entered the 2012-2013 season with 11 scholarship players with 10 being eligible to play. There were 2 seniors in Mouphtaou Yarou and "Moe" Sutton, who was actually a graduate student. Two Juniors in James Bell and the Wake Forest transfer Tony Chennault. Three Sophomores - JayVaughn Pinkston, Darrun Hilliard and "Ash" Yacoubou. Three freshmen - Ryan Arcidiacono, Daniel Ochefu and Mislav Brzoja. The one ineligible transfer would be Dylan Ennis.
This team would upset two teams ranked in the Top 5 of the country in Philadelphia within a week of each other - Syracuse and Louisville and return to the NCAA Tournament as a 9 seed playing #8 seed North Carolina where the Cats would lose in the first round, 78-71. The gutsy freshman Ryan Arcidiacono with his "take no prisioners" approach to the game (everyone remember his bloody face in the UNC game?) became the team leader and would be the face of the program for the rest of his career. Check out his number of minutes played - this was truly HIS team.
Pinkston - 34g - 26.1mpg - 13.3ppg
Arcidiacono - 34g - 34.0mpg - 11.9ppg - 32%3
Hilliard - 34g - 29.9mpg - 11.4ppg - 31%3
Yarou - 34g - 28.1mpg - 9.9ppg
Bell - 34g - 28.5mpg - 8.6ppg - 36%3
Chennault - 34g - 18.5mpg - 3.6ppg - 28%3
Ochefu - 34g - 17.5mpg - 3.5ppg
Sutton - 31g - 9.5mpg - 3.2ppg
Yacoubou - 31g - 12mpg - 2.9ppg - 39%3
Pat Farrel - 3g - 1.3mpg - .3ppg
Brzoja - 17g - 2.4mpg - 0.1ppg - 0%3
Henry Lowe - 3g - 0.7mpg - 0.0ppg
Nick McMahon - 4g - 1.3mpg - 0.0ppg

OK, Beef, I included games played this time for everyone. Again all starters got over 20 minutes of playing time and Sutton and Yacoubou were DNP in only 3 games. Thus we have a 9 man rotation. With Dylan Ennis becoming eligible next season and all reports said he was the "best" player on the team and with two stud guard/forward recruits from D.C. coming in for the next year, Ash Yacoubou and Mislav Brzoja (overmatched by the speed of the college game at the Big East level) saw the handwriting on the wall and transfered out. With the "type" of players from last year's 13-19 team and the number of transfers (5 in 2 years) Jay would change his style of recruiting.
Darrun Hilliard would walk away with the Most Improved Player in the league going from 18.1mpg to 29.9mpg and 4.8ppg to 11.4ppg.
Watch what happens next year to Hilliard, Ochefu and Bell along with a surprising new recruit.
Oh yea, the Cats finished the year at 20-14 but had to get ready to play in a "new" Big East.
