Villanova commit Cole Swider will play in the Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn in April. It's a star-studded event and it should be good to see Swider going up against some of the best players in his class.

After being named to the All-Big East first team and All-Big East freshman team respectively, more accolades came to Jalen Brunson and Omari Spellman on Wednesday.

Brunson was named both the Big East Player of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year. Brunson became the just the second player to earn both awards in the same season.

In the past few days Brunson has also been named POY by Andy Katz at NCAA.com, NBC Sports, USA Today, and The Sporting News. He appears to be in excellent position to claim the Wooden Award next month.

Meanwhile Spellman was named Big East Freshman of the Year.

Finally, Mikal Bridges was named one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Award.

Even with postseason play just days away, the grind on the recruiting trail never stops and Villanova has been putting in their work.

First, from Pat Lawless, Nova was in to see 2019 prospects Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis from the Ranney School, who combined for 50 points in Ranney's win in its sectional title game. Nova was also able to get a look at one of that duos opponents, Khalif Battle from Trenton Catholic.

Meanwhile Adam Zagoria caught up with Abington's Eric Dixon, who highlighted three school's that have been putting in the most work with him. He mentioned Villanova, Xavier, and Virginia. Here's a link to the story, which includes a Nova quote.

A couple of interesting observations ...

The women won by 4 over Marquette. The 4x400 victory gave Villanova 10 points and Marquette 5. The men won by 8 points. The margins over Marquette in the 4x800 and 4x400 make the difference.

Muhammad came from 1.6 secs behind in 4x800 to beat G'town. Nice to see. His problem in 800 final might have been he went out too fast. Kid had great promise. Maybe he is beginning to show it?

Nice to see Margey and Malone performing well.

Women suggest that they will do well at Penn Relays. Men may surprise in 4xmile at Penn and maybe 4x800. Wetzel not strong enough (yet) to anchor DMR.

The cast is off his right (shooting) hand. He just has a wrap on it now.

Speculation is that he could play vs. DePaul. IMO, that would be too early and not necessary. Creighton on 2/24 or S. Hall on 2/28, would seem to make more sense since it is his shooting hand.

In any event, it should be before the Big East Tournament, which was the hope.
