NBA Playoffs

my top 10 (in no order). i think when its all over Lebron will be considered the best non big man ever. he dominates the way no other player has ever dominated the opposition.

Jabbar
Magic
Bird
Jordan
James
Shaq
Oscar Robertson
Kobe
Russell
Wilt

Good list for me except for Shaq - that's a joke.
K. Malone or Hakeem easily above him. Elvin Hayes, West and Duncan should also be considered.

Shaq was the best player in the league for a few years. guy was a monster in the middle 28K points 13K rebounds.

i loved the mailman, Isiah, Hakeem. but im not sure any of them were as dominant as Shaq and Wilt were.

i love the old school NBA talk, i love mixing and matching dream teams

for me my all time team is:

Magic
Jordan
Bird
Jabbar
Lebron

other guys who i loved who dont get as much respect.

Barkley and Reggie Miller.

no question Duncan is more skilled or was more skilled but no one put the fear of God into opposing big men like Shaq. he dominated from day one with orlando. he has to be in the conversation. same with Hakeem and Duncan, Malone and Barkley.

Not sure that Kobe is getting as many mentions here without Shaq. On the title teams they played on together, Shaq was clearly the guy other teams worried about, Kobe an afterthought. Kobe pretty much got to play 1-on-1 all the time at worst, lots of open shots with the way people did throw bodies at Shaq. Even while on the decline Shaq helped Miami get a title.

Shaq absolutely belongs in the discussion of top 10, as much or more than Kobe. Not the type of center people like to see today, but he was just unstoppable.

I guess he's being penalized on the same basis as some criticize Wilt when they say how much bigger he was than everyone else. Not his fault. and I'm not so sure that there are centers in the NBA today that much better equipped to defend Shaq in his prime, he could have done the same stuff today.

Those Lakers' teams with Shaq and Kobe at their apex would destroy this CLV team.

And Shaq does get penalized for just dunking on people. The last time I checked it all counts as two points inside that arc. He was unstoppable.

Shaq never averaged 30 ppg in any season he played.

With his absurd size and strength he should've scored 40 ppg - for his CAREER.

Why didn't he? Almost zero offensive skills. Pathetic, really.

He was not "good." He was just "there."

Foul shooting killed that. Most guys who go for 30+ get to the line and make a bunch. That wasn't him. Yes, it's fair criticize him for not being a good free throw shooter.
Why should he get punished because he didn't make jump shots and dribble the basketball on his way to 13 straight seasons of at least 22-10 per night (10 straight of 27-11 a night). Using the word pathetic to describe him is bizarre.

Warriors v Cavs starting a week from today. Not sure who the time off benefits more. Both teams are pretty banged up. I think the Warriors balance is just too much for the Cavs (both in terms of offense/defense and options to score). I'll take Warriors in 6 as Lebron/Kyrie will win at least 2 games on their own.

If the Cavs pull this off the entire conversation around Lebron shifts yet again. They are a massive underdog and few give them much shot. He's playing with a one-legged Kyrie Irvin, Triston Thompson and a bunch of former Knicks. Would be amazing if they can beat a very good Golden State team. I'm not giving them much shot.

What makes you think Kyrie will win a game on his own? Was it the shell of himself that gutted out some games against Chicago with no ability to get to the rim, or the guy that had to miss most of the Hawks series because of those injuries?

Irving is playing on one leg. He is basically a spot up shooter.

The massive gap in between games gives Irving a chance to get healthier. The 8 days off could be a God-send for the Cavs. On normal rest I would like their chances much, much less. I still think they will lose but this is the first time all playoffs he can get a real rest.

he's had a ton of rest. had a week between Boston and Atlanta. Hardly played against Atlanta. Still made no difference. Sucks because it would've been amazing to watch him and Curry go off against each other. No chance Irving can chase Curry around the perimeter, so unless they're willing to let Curry feast, Kyrie's minutes are going to take a major hit.

I was saying the combination of Lebron/Kyrie. Also, when you factor in that the first game isn't until June 4 and the series is scheduled to potentially go through June 18, Kyrie has a ton of time to recover.

I want to say Warriors, but in the end I think LeBron is too good. He knows what this title will mean to his legacy. I hope I am wrong, but I think the Cavs win this is 6.

this is huge for Lebrons legacy but this appears to be the same story in cleveland, a bad team with Lebron carrying them in a weak east eventually losing to a superstar west team.

id actually liked to see GS vs the East All Stars in the finals. might be more interesting.

Cavs are going to win it. LeBron is going to go off on this Warriors team. If they win, it's with a hobbled Irving and no Love, that would be damn impressive.

Not having homecourt for this particular series is gonna be alot for Clev to overcome on top of the injuries. Golden St is murder at home and also very good on road. Taking 4 against them will take alot. I'm not sold on this current Cleveland team. The East BLOWS.

Lots of people rooting for LeBron to win this time around
IMO, people want to see greatness. If Lebron can win with this team, and I think many here don't appreciate how big an underdog the Cavs are in this series, the Lebron vs. Jordan debate becomes more real. People without a vested interest want that to happen. It's natural. Same in the manner that people loved watching Jordan win. You might not have loved the Bulls but it was compelling as heck to watch Jordan crush people.

Cavs were underdogs against the Bulls and Hawks as well. it's comical at this point.

Cavs were not betting underdogs vs either chicago or ATL. At least not with my book.

well what's the official Vegas line now? just the general consensus i saw among national media had Bulls/Hawks over them last two rounds.

Saw Warriors at -275. Believe the number is now trending down a bit.

Curry's going to score a lot. Don't think the rest of GS will do much of anything though. Cavs don't have someone that can chase Curry around the perimeter to keep him in check. Otherwise, they're very good defensively. They'll dominate on the boards and they've got the best player. Cavs in 6.

the hawks as a 1 seed was a complete joke. what a terrible team. When Kyle Korver is your second best player your team has issues. just shows how meaningless the regular season in the east was.
