Strange Story - James Gandolfini

A paramedic is being accused of stealing the Rolex off his wrist on the way to the hospital the day he died.

2 things:

1. Wasn't this a storyline in a Sopranos episode with Tony? They accused the paramedic of taking $2,000 from his pocket when Uncle Jun shot him.

2. The paramedics name in Italy is Bevilacqua. Isn't that the same name as the wanna be gangster who went to Pace college and tried to kill Christopher to impress Ritchie Aprile?

FBS Realignment

Long but pretty interesting read on the subject says that TV and apparel money are going to lead to a lot more conference realignment until there are only 4 power conferences with 16 teams each. Plus, it predicts a bunch of programs moving between power and midmajor conferences.

Okay, so if that's the case - and it predicts Temple moving up to a major conference because of the size of the Philadelphia television market - you can make the case for, well, you know where I'm going.

Josh article on philly.com today

Nothing new, really, but it sounds like if he gets real encouragement from an NBA team, he'll go; some relevant excerpts and link to full article below.

Villanova junior Josh Hart, fresh off the Wildcats' NCAA championship season, is testing the draft waters. He has put his name in but has not hired an agent and can still pull out by the May 25 deadline.

"I am still 50-50 and I am not sure when that will change," Hart said after the workout, in which he and Bembry guarded each other. "It all depends on when and how much feedback I get in the next week and a half."

Hart faces a difficult decision, especially if he won't be selected in the first round. All first-round contracts are guaranteed for two years.

"The NBA is my dream and what I have been working toward since I was 5 years old," said Hart, who led the NCAA champions at 15.5 points a game. "On the other hand, Villanova is a special place, has a special place in my heart, and we have a great chance to repeat if we continue to get better and play Villanova basketball."

"It is going to be a tough one. I wish there was a clear-cut pick, but it is a tough decision."

Hart has worked out for the Los Angeles Clippers. He has visits scheduled with Boston, San Antonio, and Atlanta, the last one on May 24.

76ers off season discussion thread

Since this thread has deteriorated into a 76ers discussion, the title has been changed

been trying to tune in. Hearing how amazing the games are. Now that we got past the gamblers paradise of favorites walking away with easy wins in round, one, I believe this is when the fun begins, right?

Watched the first quarter of the San antonio v okc game yesterday. Turned it off because the Spurs were up 2 dozen after 12 minutes and the teams had combined for over 60 points and the game was just terrible.

Turned on the heat v hornets right now. Miami is up about 30. So exciting.

So when do the good games start? And don't give me that game 3 or 4 home upset to force a game 5 or 6 where the favorite wins the series. When are the exciting games that I am supposed to watch?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Lotterywatch/gamewatch at Tilted Kilt in KOP on Tuesday night

For any NBA fans, Phillies fans and/or anyone else looking to get out, I'll be hosting a lotterywatch/gamewatch at Tilted Kilt in KOP tomorrow (Tuesday) night. I booked the upstairs room from 7:45 p.m. till whenever we want to leave.

We'll be watching the Marlins-Phils (7:05 p.m. start), the NBA Draft Lottery (8 p.m.) and Game 1 of the Raptors-Cavs series (8:30 p.m.). (And, yes, if you're an NHL fan, we can put the Sharks-Blues game on a TV or two as well.)

Although you don't have to RSVP to attend, if possible, please let me know if you and/or anyone else plan to join us.

Chad Ford's "The All Go-Back-To-School Team

Scroll down in the article and you'll see he recommends that Josh Hart should return to school. He is on a short list of players that could be first round picks if they return and improve, but look like 2nd round picks this year.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/insi.../chad-ford-2016-nba-draft-combine-stock-watch

For those who don't subscribe, here is the part mentioning Hart:

So who's on the All-Go-Back-To-School Team?

Maryland's Melo Trimble, Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes, Purdue's Caleb Swanigan, Kentucky's Marcus Lee, Memphis' Dedric Lawson and Indiana's Troy Williamsall are at risk of not getting drafted. All of them struggled this week.

Unless they want to spend the next year in the D-League or Europe, they should go back to college. All of them have enough talent to improve their draft stock with another year of school.

Several others should strongly consider going back to school. North Carolina'sJustin Jackson, Villanova's Josh Hart, Mississippi State's Malik Newman and Seton Hall's Isaiah Whitehead didn't have great weeks. All of them have enough talent to go in the first round. But the odds could improve dramatically with another year in school. If they stay, they are much more likely to find themselves somewhere in the second round.

Skip Bayless to fox sports

Still think they need to focus on content more than anything but they certainly are trying to attract edgy personalities.

With regards to content, and this is a little ot, as much as ESPN has better content, I cannot stand the over saturation of the nfl draft. I was as big of a fan as any of the draft back on the day; an early adopter. I cannot take it anymore. They are treating it like a national election. Debating the top 10 for hours and hours and hours. Griden is a funny guy but his qb stuff is beyond absurd.

Atlantic Think Piece Roundup

I am back from my little reduced posting hiatus. Two think pieces for the board to consider.

1. Almost half of middle class Americans would have trouble coming up with $400 in an emergency.

"The secret shame of middle class Americans"

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/05/my-secret-shame/476415/

2. The endless customization options at places like Starbucks feeds into the "special snowflake syndrome" enjoyed by Americans, particularly young Americans, and wouldn't be tolerated in other countries.

"Fancy Starbucks drinks and the special snowflakes who order them"

Consider the board a better, more highly trafficked place.
