Big East Championship

Sadly, the ratings were not very good. I still look at this as a function of Fox than as a function of the Big East. My only gripe, besides the weak championship hats, is that this game should have been on the "national" Fox channel. Would it have boosted ratings? Don't know. But, it sure would not have hurt. Stole this info from benchwarmers. Apparently we were beat by the AAC and A-10 finals (all of which were on Sunday). Couple that to us going head to head against the ACC and FS1s historic low numbers for us and the PAC 12 and you see Fox has work to do (SO DOES THE BIG EAST for that matter).

I'll say it again, this tournament is HUGE for our league. We got the respect, the seeds, and the numbers. We cannot squander this opportunity.

Luring Jay Wright to Nova

At this point I think we've pretty much analyzed every angle for this weekend's games, and with nothing to do but wait breathlessly for the next two and a half days I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and reminisce a little.

We are incredibly lucky to have Jay Wright as our coach. He has guided the program through a dangerous stretch, and we have come out better than ever. It's scary to think about where we would be without him. One thing that has always interested me is how we got Jay here. I became a fan of Nova in 2004, when I started looking into what college I would attend, so by the time I started really paying attention Jay was already here.

I've heard rumors of the back channeling it took to get him, how Lappas still had one year left on his contract, how there was a chance Rutgers (?!?!?!) might have gotten him if we didn't. It would be awesome if some of the posters who were around back then could help fill in the details of how we ended up with Jay, especially the little details you can't find in newspaper articles, like was he the hottest coaching prospect on the market? Had he made overtures to us, or vice versa? How did the AD decide that we needed to make a move on him immediately?

Just trying to bone up on my Nova history and think good, happy thoughts so the anticipation of waiting for Thursday night doesn't kill me. I appreciate any help anyone can give.

bandwagon jumpers welcome or not - if we make sweet sixteen ??

This is always been a sore subject for me,,But it seems like to me the only way Villanova can get the 2 main sports talk
radio stations to REALLY tune in is if we make it past the first weekend...Then the Eagles fans might just put off the
Marcus Mariota pipe dream or what ever else fantasy they are conjuring up...Or my all time personal favorite..The non stop
annoying Flyers fans calling in to bitch about this goon or that goon not hitting anyone...Nothing better than being right in the middle of march madness and having to hear some clueless Flyer Fan stuck in 1976...

So hoping this is are year we get past the first weekend..Are you comfortable with all of Philly getting behind us ?? And they
will because the Philly talk stations did it twice already...2009 final four and our final 8 run in 2006... I CERTAINLY AM !!
JUST NOT NOTORIOUS VILLANOVA HATER MIKE MISSANELLI,, HE IS NOT WELCOME IMO...

The same Mike Missanelli who is always bragging about his ratings,,Well this week's quarterly ratings were released
yesterday and Mikey Miss is now behind new comers ( and old ) Josh Ennis and Tony Bruno..ha ha

OT: UNC Settles Whistle-blower lawsuit

I know this has been of some interest as of late. The University of North Carolina will pay a $335,000 settlement to Mary Willingham, the former learning specialist who was the whistleblower in the school's academic fraud case.

I KNOW that you shouldn't look at the comments below any ESPN article, but quite interesting how the UNC fans believe that the Syracuse scandal was worse because it also involved drug use, booster payments, and academic cheating.

It is going to be very interesting how this all comes down. If Reggie Bush getting money takes one NC away from USC, what does 1,800 students (mostly athletes?) cheating cost UNC?

I've said on other threads, my thinking is that the NCAA will come down so leniently on UNC that it will be a joke. However, doing so could be the nail in the coffin for them as no one will ever believe they have the capability to govern college sports.

Past NCAA Wins Over Lower Seeds That Had You the Most Concerned Going In

As a 1-seed. We will be playing at lower seeds until the Final Four at the earliest. What were some wins again underdogs that you thought we would have a tough chance of advancing? I think my biggest one in recent times was the 2006 win over Boston College. Once I knew we had the chance of meeting up with them in the Sweet 16, I knew that it would be a battle where we would be physically drained. They had a veteran team who had a great regular season the year before. Even though we were able to win, it took a lot of energy out of us and we became fodder for Florida.

49ers Chris Borland retires after 1 season/concerns on head trauma

This is very interesting. Guy steps in for Willis, leads the team in tackles and then retires after one NFL season because he's made the decision after much research that the risk of playing football is not worth it. Worlds, Willis and now this guy. We're going to see more of this.
