for dmil, kmil, gbrac and the libs, Hillary loses the votes again

I get the sense that the Trumo train is about to run out of track. It was entertaining while it lasted.

I wouldn't be too sure. This Orlando shooting is really helping Trumo. It is hitting everyone's fears about be safe in our own country which plays into Trumo's fear mongering appeal. Plus Hillarty is such a c*nt.

Not at all, I am just active in political discussion and you'd be surprised at what you learn. I have a friend in the Army and he said everyone he has talked to hates Hillart and is voting Trumo.
I heard Romney would win "handily" 4 years ago, so consider me jaded.

People in the military have been voting Repbublican since Nixon. Difference now is there ain't no draft no more (i.e. less servicemen and women), and most 18-year olds have access to quality information instead of blindly doing what their parents and friends say.

I challenge the last part of your post.

Ohh don't worry life will go on and the sun will come out tomorrow..but hopefully thanks to Hillart it won't be as hot.

Yep. The downward spiral of this country will continue. We may need to bottom out completely before low information voters realize that liberal policies do not work in many cases.

But at least we can all feel good about our nice wannabe utopian society in which "the rich" pay for everything and everyone can rely on the government to solve every problem.

Can someone tell me something in politics/policy that it preventing them from living their lives to the fullest? Something that is actually taking from the quality of your life? What exactly are people losing out on? From either side. It doesn't matter. Just wondering why people get so worked up about this crap.

Well, you had the same shit in your ears then that you do now when you changed "could" to "would" in my original post. Nardi: "Sure, I don't know what's going on."

Most glaring signs of the downward spiral I see are the celebration of the unintelligent and the willingness of the masses to use emojis. Rich paying more is not exactly a liberal policy - it's upheld by both parties for decades. What do you expect poor people to pay with? Southern states are the poor, undereducated tax sucking and filled with welfare taking red necks still waving the confederate flag - taking hand outs by the truck load and too stupid to realize they are the ones getting the hand outs. Votes speaks for themselves this decade. You are probably the youngest Fox News viewer if you believe this slop.

You sound like an elitist. Makes sense as Hillary supporter.

By low information I do not mean dumb, I mean uninformed and drinking the Kool Aid that the mainstream media dishes out on a daily basis.

The rich should pay more, and they already do. I believe that the approach of "let's tax the shit out of the rich and redistribute everything to everyone else" is called socialism. How has that approach worked in other countries? Do you really think that throwing more money into a black hole of government inefficiency, incompetence, and corruption is the magic solution? You must be the youngest MSNBC viewer if you believe that slop.

Right, everyone misquotes you.

No one would have remembered that comment if you said "could" because that is not exactly going out on a limb.

You made a prediction and you were wrong, but you can't admit it and you are a pathological liar.

Think about every single tax that you pay and tell me if you think that it's enough.

Those who feel that we are undertaxed and should pay even more money to the government, raise your hands.

I have no problem paying taxes. Just spare me the bullshit that we need to pay even more for vast government programs that are largely inefficient and ineffective.

So, you believe we are a socialist country? Because that's pretty much what we have been doing since the dawn of the republic in some form or another. Our tax rates on the wealthy are historically low right now.
Taxes hardly go to 'redistribution'. They go overwhelmingly to the military, SS and Medicare - every hear a politician running talk about cutting any of those? From either side? Jesus, did you ever bother to have interest in simple facts?

You can't even get your barb right - I'd be the oldest MSNBC viewer you dolt.

edit: I guess you can count a lot of military spending as a jobs program redistribution if you wanted to. Kind of what it is...

The Philly soda tax is getting voted on today. This is not currently a federal issue but since we started talking about taxes, I figured I would bring it up. It was being sold as additional tax money for the schools but recently, it has been said, it will go to the general fund. I am not an advocate of this soda tax, anyone else with opinions, please share.

I'm not saying we are under, over, or properly taxed. I really have no idea. I don't pay attention to it enough. But for the sake of curiosity, if we were "properly" taxed how much money would we gain per year?

Also....

If Hillart gets elected how will one's life change for the good or bad?

If Trumo gets elected how will one's life change for the good of bad?

I don't know the answers these questions. If someone does then I'd be interested in hearing them. Thanks.

How much tax will be placed on a $1.00 can of soda? On a $1.79 20 oz bottle? On two-liter? Six-pack? A case of soda?

Originally, they were going for three cents an ounce but that was changed to a cent and a half per ounce.

More people should pay attention to it. Most do not.

Whoever invented the concept of payroll deductions was brilliant. You don't really think about how much you are paying every week/month/year.

Think about it - virtually everything we do is taxed in some form or another. Then jackass Governor Wolf tried to tax almost everything else in the world that exists. Diapers. Nursing home care. Caskets. Gum. Candy. The list was comical. All to "support education." Everything these days is "for the children."

Fortunately the Republican legislature never allowed it to become law. Stop the insanity.

Originally, they were going for three cents an ounce but that was changed to a cent and a half per ounce.

So, a case of soda (24 X 12) would have 288 oz and the the tax would be $4.32 on that case? A case that might originally cost $6.50? Seems significant. A 20 oz soda would have a 0.30 cent tax added to it?

Jesus, yes, I have plenty of interest in simple facts. It is quite difficult to have a comprehensive discussion of economic and political theory in a few newsgroup sound bites.

Taxes in many cases do in fact go to redistribution. Jesus, ever hear of Medicaid? Food stamps? The myriad of social service programs that in many cases are bloated, inefficient, and filled with bureaucratic red tape? Yet many like the BEEFER feel that we need to redistribute wealth from the top 10% and "give it to the poor." Yeah, that'll work.

Agree with you that SS and Medicare are a disaster as is military spending. You dolt.

Yes and the Mayor tried to lie about it and say all of the tax would go directly to the kids for school which has since been retracted. It is going to the general fund.

Correct. And the mayor wanted it to be twice that: $8.64 tax on a case of soda and a 60 cent tax on a 20 oz. bottle of soda. The guy is certifiable.

The guy who owns the local bodega must be thrilled about this proposal. I'm sure that most of his customers are as well. But hey, it's all "for the children." As if "universal pre-K" is going to solve everything. Total lunacy.

This tax would hit any "sugary" drinks like Ice Tea, sports drinks and diet soda. When people say that stuff is bad for you, then why don't they simply ban the drinks? The reason is because they simply want the tax revenue from it, they don't want people to stop drinking it.

Speaking of the gas tax, PA has the highest tax in the country.

And roads that are among the worst in the country.

The PA Turnpike is currently being widened from two lanes to three in each direction from Plymouth Meeting to Lansdale. They have been working on this project for literally over 5 years and the cost is in the several hundreds of millions of dollars. All of this to widen 10 miles of roadway. Oh, and tolls have doubled in the past 5 years or so and I believe that they are scheduled to automatically increase by something like 5% annually for the next 20 years. Let's keep throwing money at everything and let the government spend it. Where does all of this money go?

I realize that this involves tolls and not taxes but you get the idea. The PA Turnpike Commission is a cesspool for corruption.

Correct - the proposed tax was cut in half but was also expanded to include diet soda.

Has anyone done a study to determine if $95 million in "universal pre-K" will accomplish anything whatsoever except provide funding for a glorified babysitting service?

Food stamps? That's the big hand out? 75B? (and falling) Literally chump change for this country. Should be expanded - along with veterans benefits, transportation, science and energy. (also chump change items) Again, the biggest tickets are NEVER touched by ANY party. Ever. So, not sure why you consider one more above board than another.

You conveniently ignored Medicaid, which is substantially more than food stamps. It is typically the largest budgetary expense for state governments and it is expanding.

And why should food stamps be expanded? Shouldn't we be focused on trying to create employment opportunities so that people can support themselves rather than expanding the safety net even more?

It pays for the double time the workers are getting for working, "off hours". The best are the workers who simply stand by a slow down sign for their entire shift. I believe the NE extension is getting three lanes up to Quakertown. The worst part is, the traffic is way worse right now because nitwits hang in the left lane all the way up until it is coned off, which causes way more traffic.

You mean like jobs in the military? We have 5% unemployment levels currently - it's been measures the same way for a while now, so not sure there is a need to go into the 'underemployed' or 'the ones who have stopped looking' - because it's been measured the same way and it's comparable and it's 5%. Not a lot of us not working. We have a lot of corporate welfare - we subsidize companies that will not provide a living wage - that would go a long way towards getting people off the books.

SS and Medicare are not hand outs entirely, since most people have paid into them for years before they receive any of their benefits. Pyramid scheme maybe, but not a hand out. Rich people still get their SS just like everyone else. It's fair to argue the waste and expansion associated with these things. adp and his republican pals expanded it pretty nicely - didnt even bother to write in negotiable drug prices for Part D - that's fine. I won't discount any of that. But your phrase was specifically hand outs. Meaning - welfare. Something for doing nothing without having ever paid in. And that's still a very small slice of our budget every year.

A "small slice" is a relative term. If you want to compare it to defense/Medicare/SS, then sure.

But the reality is that we are spending a ton of money on programs that are minimally effective at best and a complete disaster at worst. And the party of Obama and Hillary thinks that is a good idea to continue to pump billions of dollars into this black hole. Keeping people dependent on these programs is what helps them to stay in power, so I can understand their reasoning I suppose.

well look at that i agree with you about something

people think they have to win all the time. just merge as soon as you can after seeing what's going on and we'll all f--king get through faster
