Orlando massacre

Fair point, but be it Islam or Joker or Sandy Hook or Columbine or the literally dozens of other mass shootings we have here - is there any reason to go any more crazy over The ones driven by Islam? This guy's just another psychotic murderer. I don't care about his reason all that much. Loyal to Isis, didn't like gay people , wife didn't do his laundry - who cares ? He's a psycho. The next one won't be Islam in all likelihood. It will be something else - some other nut job pissed off about something else.

This guy was obviously psychotic. Hated seeing two men kiss, used to beat up his wife because the laundry wasn't done.

Obviously psychotic. Hatred of gays and mistreatment of women are unheard of in Islam.

I mostly agree with you. Every mass shooting should draw outrage from the public. However, if a higher percentage start coming from one group, a group that has publicly condemned the Anerican/Western way of life, then that is certainly going to put more fear into people. Thus, drawing more attention.

With that said, there are probably always going to be random wackos that do this type of thing, too. It's a different type or form of illness/disturbance. One example you have sick people. The other example you have sick people doing it for some of warped cause or belief.

Westboro Baptist Church? Obviously there are many problem within Islam. And there are many problems within a lot of sick Aholes. I just don't want to discern between this murderer and say Anders Behring. What is the difference? It's always in the name of something....

Isn't it fair to say that we are seeing more and more of these typs of events? Whether it be here on our soil or abroad?

Hey, I don't want to minimize that wacko dressed as the the Joker, but I haven't heard of any other Joker-portraying individuals committing mas murder since then. I'm unaware of any Joker groups vowing to die in order to kill evil Americans or others from the Western world. If they exist, then I stand corrected.

In the end, all acts of mass murder are sad and repulsive. However, when a particular theme arises more often than some others, then I think there is a difference.
That's exactly the point burrs. I couldn't agree more. You don't see Episcopaleans carrying out terror attacks all over the world. To deny that these are not radical Islamic terror attacks is to hide your head in the sand. That, of course, is not to say that all Muslims are terrorists.

That proves nothing, Anarchy. NOBODY is saying there haven't been other whackos who've killed people. Kind of odd, Anarchy, that you left 911 off your list (I guess because it shoots an enormous hole in your argument.) After 911 I took the time to read the Quran because I wanted to understand how a religion could motivate some of its followers to such hatred. Those who say Islam is a religion of peace are correct on the surface. It preaches the same kind of love and peace as other major religions. There's one huge caveat, however. The Quran goes on to say that if you can't convert infidels to Islam peacefully, you must kill them in the name of Allah. It is also the duty of every Muslim to bring about the final world conflict to establish the worldwide Caliphate that will usher in the return of the Prophet. So, in other words, if all else fails, kill anyone who doesn't follow your religious beliefs. That's what civilized peace loving societies are up against so we damn well better recognize the danger and call it what it is or things will only get worse!

Lots of immigrants on that list. Oh wait, this latest guy was born here, so he's as American as you and me

Actually if you went into that list - there are plenty of religious reasons, race reasons, mental illness, PTSDreasons and of course Islam. I'm not hear arguing that religious and Islamic extremists are not part of the problem. I'm just not going to sit here and ignore the dozens of other mass shootings that happen for some other reason and go off the handle when the arrow lands on Islam. It's just another day in the USA. Far as the Q'ran, there is plenty of killing and effed up shit in the Bible that people still take literally- and people kill in the name of it frequently. Even now. Let's not act like they don't.

But, let's go nuts because this guy joined was a Moooslim - and ignore the others as just some crazy guy.

Was 9-11 a mass shooting? I thought they used planes..

Tell me the difference between Dylan Roof, Dylan Kleebold, Anders Behring and Omar Mateen?

Dmil, again I see your point and mostly agree. I do think these Islamic type massacres might be in their infantile stages in terms of how frequently they occur. Your list has events that go back some years.

Also, I now the list says shootings, but I'm pretty sure 9/11 was significant despite not using guns. The Boston bombing only killed three, but 264 were injured.

What a dick. Using wordplay to gloss over the murder of 3,000 people in the name of a fake god.

As if the fact that they used planes adds anything to your original argument.

I see the Texas LT Gov tweeted out that basically the people in the club deserved it- citing some Biblical verse. So much tolerance ..

I cited mass shootings - the most common weapon in terrorism. And then cited the top 30 in the US. No word play. Just simple facts.

Ok, then you're making a gun argument. Not a mass murder argument. 9/11 alone killed nearly ten times the amount of people on your entire list.

Obama needs to give the speech calling out Gov of Turkey, Saudi Arabia & Qatar for sponsoring World-Wide jihad. The jihadi gig needs to end.

The major difference is pretty simple, Anarchy. See my post above about what's in the Quran regarding killing anyone who refuses to follow your religious doctrines.

So killing in the name of Allah is worse than killing in the name of some other reason? Like starting a race war or being anti gov't?

20 year old white dude from Indian was the one arrested in Santa Monica on his way to the gay pride parade with 3 assault riffles and bomb making material. If he has succeeded, what the difference in the two?

Zero.

Ok, so your point is that its ok to ignore a recurring theme in many terrorist attacks because it's pretty much a "there will always be whackos" mentality.

And furthering that line of thought, it would be absurd to think that there may be an institution promoting this ideology and producing more of them.

Thats good to know. I was starting to worry that radical Islam was a real thing.

Do you people who want to make this a war on Islam realize that it would ultimately make the world a much less safe place?

Where did i say it was ok to ignore any of the reasons? Solid straw man attempt. Or that there wasn't some places promoting this kind of thing within Islam? But have ever been on the Internet? You can pretty much find any hate group you want, and they promote a lot of violence. And a lot of people act on it.

Is you contention that radical islam is the only problem? Seems like it.

Do you people who want to make this a war on Islam realize that it would ultimately make the world a much less safe place?

There's a difference between launching a war on islam and acknowledging that terrorist attacks are often linked to radical islam, bud.

And even so, you sound like a huge pussy for fearing the repercussions of standing up for yourself.

Thank goodness no war has been declared.

The old "what difference does it make" argument. I assume you're voting for Hilliart.

Where did I day we shouldn't stand up for ourselves? Start by banning weapons that make it easy to murder 100 people in a couple minutes. Ramp up domestic intelligence gathering to better identify all nut jobs and use it for all background checks prior to being allowed to purchase a gun.

It is not. My problem is with people who pretend that radical Islam is not a problem.

Who said it wasn't a problem? We're dedicating literally hundreds of billions of dollars to this problem. Pretty sure we know it's an issue. It's quite far form our one problem. And it's not nearly as big a problem as it's made out to be. We scare awfully easy since 9-11.

More people died Saturday night, and every single day, of alcohol, drugs and auto accidents than at the hands of this gunman. Waiting for Obama to declare war against alcohol and motor vehicles as opposed to "gun control".

This world has a problem. An asshole problem. If only we could control it.

An answer to what? You've yet to even acknowledge that radical Islam is a problem.

You can't answer what the difference is between Omar Mateen and Dylan Roof and any other Ahole that kills because he's got some offed up issue. ahh, but one is mooslum and one just hates black people. Mooslum is much worse to you it seems. Much more of a problem.

There you go again. I never said that. You're more slippery than a d%@k covered in KY! If you can't even acknowledge that there are killers motivated by a perverted form of their religion then there's no reason to continue this discussion any further. Just tell your views to the surviving relatives of the victims of the Hobart Towers, the Zahidis (sp), the Cole, 911, Ft. Hood, San Bernardino, Paris, Brussels, Kenya, Bali, Orlando and countless other places. Be sure to also express your views to the parents of Christian children who have been crucified by ISIS or the gays who have been thrown off the roofs of buildings just for being gay. Maybe you should also tell the families of the women in the Middle East who have been sold as sex slaves by ISIS. I'm sure they'll all understand and agree with you!

I've acknowledged it all along. It's not been terribly hard to see. But I don't single it out as any more or less dangerous than the myriad of other reasons why people shoot lots of other people. That's the difference. This guy was a woman abusing nut case who was probably a latent homosexual that didnt even have the balls be live his life - Dylan Roof was a racist who wanted to start a race war. You can be like the jack wad in Norway and be pissed your country isn't 100% white and Christian any longer. Be like the guy in Colorado who thought abortionist deserved to die. Or the guy who thought he was the Joker. I don't see a big difference, and since we've had nearly 1000 mass shootings since Newtown - it seems like there might be plenty of reasons why people kill other people. Islamic extremism is just one. Not any more frequent in this country than any other. So why give the Islamist more attention than the others? Doesn't make sense to me. They all think it's for glory. I'm not interested in giving it to them. This guy was a woman abusing homophobe Islamic. Pick one, pick all three. What you're excuse for the guy in Santa Monica? He was white and from indiana.

Isis is not most Mooslims. If most Mooslims were like Isis, we'd all be in trouble. We're pretty badly outnumbered.
