Phillies' Daily Minor League Report

Are the hedge guys still with the "wait and see" on Bourjos?
Bourjos has never been a hedge play.
You have to play the savvy GM apologist position with him. Examples:
1. "He plays great defense!"
2. "It was a low risk, low cost, high potential signing!"
3. "Who else do they have?"
4. "Don't want to start the SERVICE CLOCK on those young guys." (SERVICE CLOCK / ARBITRATION YEARS is the CAP SPACE of MLB)
5. "He fits perfectly in the 2nd leadoff role."
6. "He's a gr8 veteran clubhouse guy."

I love when you two tickle each other's balls all in the weak-ass attempt to troll.

No one ever promoted Bourjos even a little.

JP Crawford 3-5, 2 runs (.417 OB% thru 6 games) & Nick Williams 3-3, 3 runs this afternoon for LV. Ruf hit a pair of HRs, too. Jake Thompson (3-4, 3.48) earned the win, but went just 5.2 innings, allowing 3 ER.

Reading won this afternoon, too. Alfar0 (.349) hit his 4th HR. R. Hoskins hit his 9th. Cozens notched his 15th double.

I suppose this injury would explain Appel's severe dip in velocity, and performance.

I've already given up on watching until they bring up the young hitters. There's no reason to waste time watching this shit. Then again I'm a bandwagon baseball fan that only watches when the team is competing. Sport is too boring to watch when the team is trotting out this bullshit lineup.

So when is the magic date when SERVICE TIME clock doesn't get triggered? So we can see Crawford and others?

Cozens hit his 15th HR the other night. Also, he has 10 steals & 18 doubles. Batting .282, with .932 OPS. 43 runs scored and 45 RBIs.

Roman Quinn has been hot lately hitting .415 in his last 9 games (17-41). He's at .289 for the season with 43 runs and 25 SBs. Earlier in the week he led-off games on back-to-back nights with HRs.

Nick Williams is up to .284, while going 15-41 (.366) in his last 10 games. Today, he hit a 2-run HR (7) & A 2-run triple.

Andrew Knapp hit his 7th HR today.

Jake Thompson (4-5, 3.82) got the W today going 6 innings and allowing no runs on 3 hits.

JP Crawford is struggling in his first 15 games as AAA. Hitting around a .180.

Reading won 11-1 tonight. Alfaro (5, 31 RBIs, .324), Cozens (16, 46), and Hoskins (13, 40) went back-to-back-to-back in the game. Nick Pivetta (6-4, 4.05) picked-up the win.

LV won 11-6. Nick Willians (.293) went 3-4 2B (10), SB (5). Andrew Knapp 3-5 (.270). Cam Perkins 3-5 (.308).

In Reading's 9-2 win tonight Cozens (17) and Rhys Hoskins (15) went back-to-back tonight. Cozens (.286) went 3-for-5, including his 19th double. J. Alfaro (.310) also hit a HR (7). 21-year old Tyler Viza made his AA debut. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 ER on 5 hits. He walked none and fanned three. In 9 starts at Clearwater he was (6-2, 2.54). In 49.2,IP he only walked 8 while fanning 55. Roman Quinn missed his 6th straight game with a hammy strain.

LV won (4-0) behind 7 shutout innings from Jake Thompson (5-5, 3.42), who allowed 6 hits while K'ing 5. In his last two starts he hasn't allowed a run over 13 innings. Reliever Edubray Ramos has caught my eye between Reading/LV. In 23 combined games he is (2-1, 9 SV, 1.34). In 33.2 IP he's only allowed 20 hits, 5 ER, and has only 2 walks with 36 punch outs.

Is there any point whatsoever to keep Cozens down in the Minors? Dude is RAAAAAAA-KING.

I think he's probably still raw. He strikeouts a lot, too. He seems like he has legit power, but is still learning to be a better and more disciplined hitter. Further development is probably needed.

Update: Cozens had a RBI single in his next AB. Then, in the 5th hit another HR (2-run) his 19th. Up to .295 and 53 RBIs.

Reading ended up winning 12-8. They're (44-19) this season. They have hit 81 HRs. R. Hoskins (16) added another and went 3-3 (46 RBIs). Alfaro had three more hits (two 2Bs).

LV tied a club record for runs in their 16-1 win. Ben Lively (3-0) gave up 1 hit, 1 run in 7 innings. In 13 combined starts between RDG/LV he is (10-0, 1.96), Combinec totals: 79 IP, 46 H, 23 BB, 69 K's. Brock Stassi hit a double, triple, and a HR. NDs boy D. Ruf continued to swing a hot bat (.315) and hit his 7th HR.

Nice. Good stuff. Step in any time.

Would love to see D Ruf do well while playing the rest of his career in AAA. Nice guy. Deserves the starting spot in LV.
He has to be resigned to the fact that he will never be anything more than a AAAA player, right? I guess he'll never have a chance to make more money doing something else but that has to be crushing to him.

Rhys Hoskins has been in the shadow of Dylan Cozens this year, but tonight continues with his hit bat going 3-4. He hit his 17th HR and doubled (15) twice, knocking on 6 (52) of Reading's 8 runs. Cozens did score two runs and stole his 13th base.

LV won 7-6, as Cam Perkins went 3-4 (.316) and Nick Williams reached base four times (3 walks).
