Trumo VP + SCOTUS Picks 5/18 + Riots - 5/27

The media will do their best to keep this race as close as possible until early November. It's in their best interest to have Trumo polling high so more people watch/read. My guess is Hillary will win handily despite the polls. Google and FB are apparently pretty liberal companies and they contain easily influence the election.

So you are saying that Trumo wins?

Golfers are going to go for Trumo in a big way. He's the new Tony Montana.

Mrs. ADP and I were discussing how we're going to last an entire week down the shore with my parents in August. They'll have MSNBC on each night and probably have the house decorated in "I'm with Her" crap. Last two Presidential elections we barely survived. I'm going to wear the "Make American Great Again" hat all week for the entire purpose of goading and embarrassing them.

Drink heavily. That's your only shot at survival.

ADP,

What has Obama done that you would've done differently.
What did Obama do to make the USA sh*tty again.
Is this a real question. Go read ben Rhodes talk of how they sold the Iran deal. That was monday.

and now you have the perfect beverage

My parents are liberals, nothing but fine wine. They are sophisticated.

Also - you are welcome to go to another country. The US is the greatest country in the world by far, I feel sorry for you that you don't recognize how lucky you are.

I have checked out 61 other countries....the U.S. is certainly not "the greatest"....my "god", we elected Obama twice....and are populated with heaps of evangelicals.

Anyone who says the USA is "by far" the greatest is just being sarcastic I assume.

People like you are the worst, tell me - why do you still live here then? Because it's the best place to raise a family? The best place for the opportunity to succeed?

Either way, you did help me find a nice pair of jeans. I was just at Charlie's last week and picked up a couple new pairs. Thanks again for that recommendation.

I live here because this is where my family and friends are.....and because it's less effort to stay than it is to leave. By all accounts I have an excellent life here, but it's not because "America is by far the greatest country" to ever exist.

When you say "people like me" are the worst, are you referring to those who actually have some life experience outside the borders of this country?

As for the dungarees, I do what I can.

Please list better countries. Thanks.

Then there's the matter of doubling the national debt and reducing the size of the army to 1940 levels. Need I go further?

Oh, I suppose for everyone it's a little different depending on what it is you value, but.....if I could start from scratch with the identical advantages that I had at birth, I'd probably choose to live in, but not be limited to:

--Norway
--New Zealand
--Finland
--Vietnam
--Sweden
--The Netherlands
--Belgium
--Argentina

....among others.

Yes, if only we would start spending some REAL money on the Department of Defense....

Strick has two kids and a wife and chooses to live in a 2nd rate city in the USA. He is raising his kids in the CoP. Clearly he loves america.

You don't think it's possible that that USA is maybe....the SECOND "best" country that ever existed? No chance?

Why does everyone who lives here have to blindly believe that this country is better than every other? So silly.
1. Because 'murrica!
2. Because it's true.

Listen strick, you're not going to win this argument. Unless you move your wife and 2 kids to Vietnam tomorrow just zip it.

I would have chosen to not comment on your post but ARGENTINA? Are you kidding? Have you ever been to Argentina? Other than some natural beauty, it's a dump! A Socialist dump to be exact. I would rate Argentina somewhere below Camden, NJ as a place to live! You've seen Evita one too many times.

Not sure why that makes him 'the worst'. The US has been faltering in a few areas in recent decades; or at least falling a bit off the pace. It appears that some other free countries, and there are many other free countries, have stepped up while we're busy watching and paying mind to people like Duck Dynasty, Jersey Shore and Honey Boo Boo. So, we're behind a bit in some areas. Not sure why admitting that and working to do something about is a bad thing. When did it become cool to not strive? To settle for bad stuff we know is not working, or has a poor future.

you say "best place to raise a family". Sure, maybe, if you are white and or even given a good education to start out with, and you manage to make a living that can support the world's most expensive education( not necessarily the best education ) and good neighborhoods. Great place. But not sure some dirt poor joe hick in the middle of Pennsyltucky or Mississippi who can't afford to get educated better thinks it's so great. Or poor minorities in the ghettos think it's so great. They might be better off being poor in the UK, Austria or Germany, where they can get educated better for far less. In fact, income inequality being what it is currently, I'm sure plenty of people out there might be dreaming of someplace better. In some places taxes are high but college is free. That might be better for a poorer person somewhere who lacks opportunity early on because their parents are not in a good place for whatever reason.

Still a great place for a lot of us, but ignoring some major issues is always a good way to make sure they get worse. Most people on this board were either handed a nice education, brought up in a decent neighborhood or at least steered in the right direction, with an emphasis placed on education. Not everyone has had that. Easy for those who did to say how great it is.

I for one wouldn't mind one bit sitting out the Trumo/Hillart years. I can think of a few places I would love to live for a few years. Innsbruck, Vienna, Salzburg for starters. Lucerne, Mallorca. Almost anywhere in Italy would be ok. South of France. Heidelberg, Seville, Prague. So many choices. World's got some awesome countries and cities. If i were on my own, or kids were out and I had one of those "i can work from anywhere' gigs that a service economy allows, I would pretty much be down for that. Would be fun no matter who was president regardless. States are A-ok in my book all in all, but so are a lot of other places. This country acts like a bunch of pu$$ies every time a muslim kills anyone or Putin lifts a finger.

I live in Vietnam and as a foreigner here I feel that I have more freedom than I ever did in the states.

I can literally take a shit in the middle of the street here and no one will bat an eyelash.

When were you last there?

(Yes, I've been to Argentina)

Reagan tripled debt and we did ok with the army in the 1940's. Ever heard of weapon technology? I don't think ramping up if we need them is too hard. Not sure why we need so many on staff right now. Russia is not invading us. (i don't think!) Complaining about the deficit and military cuts seems counterintuitive to me....not sure what Obama specific policy has added so much to the deficit, which has been trending down for years now.

dmil - you make some good and very valid points. Most of us here are lucky that we were brought up in a much more comfortable life than our parents were because of sacrifices they made, and there are definitely people in this country who might not have the same fortunes. But it's more than that. The opportunity for success, in my opinion, is greater here than anywhere else in the world. A part of the reason why is because America is the best country in the world.

I am an Independent voter in a very liberal state where Hillary is taking her victory for granted. I will be voting for Trump in the general election. Not sure 20 somethings will come out and vote for Hillary with the same numbers they did for Obama.

Also, Strick you have been to Argentina but would rather face their severe inflation? How about the massive influx of refugees into countries like Sweden in Belgium? Not saying we are the best, but our life is pretty damn good in this country. Think we're bragging too much? It's called being patriotic and having some pride in where you came from...

I will never take for granted being an American citizen. My grandparents, uncles, and mom all came over to the US in the 70s with the hope of building a better life for their families. They all went to college here, had corporate jobs, and eventually started their own businesses. I will forever be thankful for that.

Sure, it may seem like the American Dream is dead, but I would disagree. It might be harder to achieve it than it used to be, but it's still there.

This was done in the middle of Lancaster last month and nobody cared.

Appreciate your candor, but can you explain your qualifier there? Identical advantages at birth?

I was born a rich white person. It's possible that I would identify different countries if I was born into different circumstances.

I listened to a podcast today that discussed the fact that one can purchase St. Kitts and Nevis citizenship for a "donation" of $250,000 or am investment of $400,000. Crazy.

I can attest that living in Vietnam as a foreigner is awesome. You can pretty much live like a king here for a minimal amount of money. It's a much difference experience for Vietnamese people who don't come from money or connected families - if you gave them the opportunity to move to America they would do it no questions asked.

The biggest downsides to living here are the infrastructure, health care and harassment you get from Vietnamese who think you are a human ATM.

Gotcha. I hope you realize that's a massive qualifier.

I like many of those countries, but I disagree on all of them. The Scandinavian countries are facing some huge problems in the coming years which threaten the relative tranquility and wealth they've lived for the last decade.

Argentina is a disaster. No idea why you'd want to live there.

New Zealand is tiny, and completely reliant on China for its well being. There's next to nothing going on there. It's a bunch of dairy farmers.

Vietnam? I can't argue with that, but it's a third world country. Your chances of growing up white and privileged there are slim to none.

Belgium and the Netherlands are ok I guess?

Some might suit your personality, but America is still the best pound for pound fighter in the world.
